Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was visiting an old colleague from the past who lives in nearby Terrigal and he drove me around the local area stopping off briefly to take in the views from this marvelous Lookout.

It being a gloriously sunny day we had superb views both up and down the coastline out over the Pacific Ocean. I guess that the migrating whales had already been passed earlier in the spring as we didn't see any tell tale signs as we scanned the waters.

There are two lookouts here, one looks up to Terrigal and the other back to Sydney. Popular spot for whale watching.

A really good spot for whale watching where the whales come up pretty close with lots of action from the whales.
It was a lovely spot for the views and assessible for wheelchairs and strollers at the lower lookout. Worth a visit and quieter spot for whale watching if you are in the area.

Captain Cook Lookout is considered one of the best places to watch the humpback whale migration with whales often being sited very close to the headland. I have personally looked down on a pod of whales close enough that you can hear them. Even without the whales, the lookout provides a large platform with excellent views along the stunning coast to Sydney (on a clear day you can see the City buildings). Another platform near the carpark faces north with excellent views towards Newcastle. The north-facing lookout would be accessible to wheelchairs but the main Captain Cook Lookout is accessed via steps.

Great lookout. We had a clear day so could see Sydney. Not many whales though. Parking can be sparse at the lookout.
