About
Scenic Rim Brewery and Cafe is a small family owned, Australian brewery from southeast Queensland’s Scenic Rim Region. As the name suggests, the Scenic Rim is known for its natural assets. With fresh air, clear water and natural ingredients, we can’t think of a better place to brew beer the brewery is situated in the 100 year Mount Alford General store. They have created a range of beers to celebrate the place and people we love! All their brews are named after larrikins, their story is our story and like all things country, they’re best shared over a couple of cold ones and a bite to eat”. The dedication of Mike and Wendy combined with their passion for quality products – both in the brewery and at the cafe – ensures an all round sensory experience, . Wendy’s Dutch heritage shines through in her cooking, perfectly pairing with their range of beer.

The Scenic Rim Brewery gets points for the friendly service and the great locale, scraping it up to a 3. The wurst platter was $33 for three sausages and some chips. Whilst one sausage had a bit of flavour, the other two were completely bland. The fries were great but the pickles were so tart and bitter they were an awful side. The slaw was passable. A variety of mustards/fixings would help for this price. But get some flavour into those wurst sausages. Buy a smoker, perhaps. Unfortunately, the ginger beer was quite horrible. My partner had the beef croquettes which were greasy and tasteless with a really odd texture. We won’t be recommending this based on the current menu or quality of food.

Thanks for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that our menu wasn't to your liking. We base our menu (and it's pairings) on our traditional European heritage and have gone to great effort to source authentic sausages from a German smallgoods butcher. hanks for your feedback. As you will see from our other reviews our Ginger beer, is very popular and normally greatly enjoyed by other patrons.

The owner could not have been more unwelcoming. We saw it on TV and were very much looking forward to going there. We went last Friday morning at 11:30am, there was no-one else there. He would not let us sit outside with our small dog. He would not let me get a coffee in my own travelling mug - told me it was against Covid policies - they finished weeks ago. He agreed and said it was because other people had given him dirty cups and my clean cup was not welcome. He would not take his mask off and was very angry about everything. We decided not to stay for lunch or coffee. Horrible man. INterestingly 3 of the 5 people we told about our experience had also been treated very rudely by him. This man should not be in hospitality.

We are sorry to hear you feel this way, but as a hospitality venue we cannot compromise the health of others. Over the last two years we have seen everything from customers letting their dogs eat off our plates, dogs sitting on tables and barking at our other customers. Not that we are saying your dog would have done this, but it doesn’t matter the size of the animal big or small we have made this policy and we stand behind it. We can’t allow one person to sit with their dog and then say no to the next. As for the cross contamination of my coffee machine with customers cups, it will contravene our Covid Safety Plan. If other venues don’t abide by covid rules that is out of my control. My business is working hard to provide a safe and clean environment for all our customers and also our staff. I am sorry if you interpret this as rudeness, we have to stand by our polices.

We had a very relaxing lunch at the Scenic Rim Brewery yesterday with only one other couple in the restaurant. However, the owners tell us that the place is packed with guests at weekends and that booking is really essential.

The German style sausages are excellent and the Sauerkraut is delicious.

I bought several of the beers and found them awful with the, premium, Belgian Abbey Ale, smelling like old fish tank water and tasting, most likely like old fish tank water.

Great food but the beer is awful and remember to book if you are going at a weekend.

Thank for leaving a review glad to hear you enjoyed our food disappointed to hear you did not enjoy the beer. Our Phar Que Belgium Abby is a much sort out product and has been compared to the Belgium beer “Chimay” Next time you visit us please make it aware if you are unhappy with any of our beers and we can talk you through taste profiles. Thank you for reminding people to book, as we had lots of bookings and guests this weekend. Cheers !

Service was just perfection, friendly, caring and very attentive. Without a booking we were able to dine in today last minute and it was so worth it! The food was simply delicious, great value for money and very generous. The stout was very good, if we weren’t passing through we would have stayed longer and tasting more.
We also got coffee to take away and a few goodies and again were very nice. 5 stars for service, food and drinks. We recommend going here and making a booking.

From the outside, it is one of those charming old country shops with the tall facade and the bullnosed awning.
And it gets better with every step inside.
The owners and staff are cheerful, outgoing and tell you about the place and the wares with much pride.
Ah, the wares.
The beer is good, covering most tastes and including a unique and very tasty pumpkin brew.
The food is a great selection of what goes well with the beers.
The vegetable tart was home made and very tasty.
The dressed-up Chico roll a great idea very attractively presented.
The salads crisp and fresh.
The chips perfectly cooked, and made of real potatoes.
The coffee just spot on.
We will be back

We came there for a Sunday lunch and were very disappointed! We've ordered the "Wurst - Platter" and when it was served I thought I was in a bad dream! 3 (!!!) sausages and a handful of shoe strings fries for AU$ 35.00 ???!!!!!! So, 10 bucks a sausage. That's not acceptable and then a very undersized piece of pecan cake for AU$ 6. I call this very close to a "ripp-off". Even in such hard times for Hospitality, this goes just a step too far! We wont be coming back!

Sorry you were disappointed with our portion sizes. Quite often a couple will share the Wurst Platter and we have had no complaints. Our sausages are of a high quality and made for us by authentic German butcher. The cake is an industry standard size serving. I agree that these are hard times for hospitality, BUT we have NOT lessened our serving sizes and have put in extra effort with our service. It disappoints to hear you won’t be coming back.

This brilliant little brewery has some interesting beer to rock your taste buds. They also offer fantastic meals. A must to call in and say hello to the friendly couple you own and run this brewery. Check out the way they have restored the historic building.

What a find! I had seen the brewery on social media and we took a day trip to the Scenic Rim and stopped here for lunch. The beers were great, we did a paddle so we could sample a few. Delicious cheese kransky too. We look forward to going back. We sat inside but will try for a table on the back deck next time.

My 4th visit here to the Brewery and Cafe for lunch with my motorbike mates...have always been a great experience. The owners Michael, wife and staff are very friendly, polite and helpful with the menu. The food was great, we tried the different types of hot dogs served with fries and were delicious. We all enjoyed their great varieties of their own locally brewed Beers plus other drinks.
Would thoroughly recommend a visit. 👌

We pre-booked for Sunday lunch on the back deck and had a very pleasant experience. Certainly not the typical country pub here.
The historic building has a great feel to it and all of the service staff were friendly and efficient. Mike and Wendy both stopped by for a chat.
The predominantly German and Dutch food was very good and the selection of beers was interesting. My Bockwurst Hotdog was very tasty.
We picked up a some locally sourced food products from the shop on our way out.
There's not much else in Mt Alford, but there's plenty to see and do in the wider scenic rim area and it felt good to support this region.
