Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife.

Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out.

Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans.

You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo.

With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

Great location

This is a great zoo that is easy to get to via public transport. It is within a suburban area so not remote. There is a good mix of animals and nice open green spaces.

After deciding to buy 'zoo friends' memberships a couple of years ago (and renewing them annually since), hubby and I regularly visit the Perth zoo. The animals are lovingly cared for and the gardens are gorgeous! It's a beautiful way to spend a morning or afternoon... the zoo membership price is equivalent to the cost of entry fees for approx... The zoo isn't massive but there are plenty of animals to see & they all look like they live in nice conditions. The zoo has tons of conservation programmes you can donate to for particular animals & studies. As we were leaving Trisha the elephant was out for a walk around the zoo, it was nice so see her just... More

The price isn't too high, standard for admission. Had a Great Day. Came with an 8yold and 12 yr old and grandparents. Came early and a lot of animals were still waking up. Pretty much saw all the animals at some point. Enclosures were good, although the Tiger we saw was pacing and that made me feel bad. How ever... More

Finding a parking spot is very difficult in peak periods, I had to drive around the whole perimeter of the zoo to find just one space (someone was leaving). Other than that the zoo has some great enclosures, most were open but a few were closed for renovations. A few animals were in hiding also and were not visible (this... More

A well stocked well maintained zoo. There are many extra activities such as talks and guided walks. The day we went there was an Alice in wonderland theme party in the park area. You are able to take a picnic lunch to enjoy on the large lawn. It is truly a lovely day out.

The Perth Zoo is one of those everything to everyone places. It is primarily a place of cutting edge conservation programmes and environmental education. But it is also a place where families, lovers, single parents, bored singles etc etc can just enjoy a day close to the world's animals. We took my wife's grandchildren for a day out, and it's... After reading some of the terrible reviews I nearly didn't go to Perth zoo but it is well worth a visit. There are so many mature tree's, bushes and foliage that there is a very natural feel to the place. A lot of thought has been put into the exhibits and the animals appear happy enough.

We arrived with our 3 young grandchildren just after opening to find most of the exhibits were empty or not let out if there 'cells'. For example at 10am we went to the Rhino exhibit - empty. We asked a nearby staff member and was told the keepers were in a staff meeting and the Rhinos would be let out... More

We went to the zoo on a perfect sunny day, we went over on the ferry and it was only a 15 minute walk from there. The enclosures are great and there making lots of improvements as well, the cafe is as you would expect, packed with all the usual food and also wraps and sushi, the prices are normal,... More
