About
A family run mango farm on 25 acres, Crazy Acres brings you all things homemade and many things "mango". Open every Dry season from May to September. Smoothies, fresh salads, homemade bread and platters. Homemade ice creams, chocolate coated bananas, and frozen mango can all be found in the freezer. Homemade preserves, dried mango, local jerky make a great pressie to take away. Sit and look at the very trees that produce the beautiful mangoes that are used in so many ways. Tables in the garden have you in between the tropical fruit trees and make a great place to relax with a meal, drink or ice cream. The staff are happy to help with tourist information, local knowledge, or simply how we pick the mangoes.

We headed out of Darwin early in the morning and, having picked up a flyer about this mango farm, decided to come here for breakfast. As we drove in it looked closed and we nearly turned around, thankfully we made a double check and had the most fantastic breakfast that I've tried to recreate now I'm home in Cambridge - mango and banana smoothie!! Great coffee, muffins, chia pudding, scones and you eat outside with a view of the mango trees. Friendly and welcoming people running this unique business - highly recommend. It is close to Berry Springs where you can take a swim.

We love mangoes and thought we'd give this place a try. A mango farm to visit, what could be more fun. The picnic platter was very generous for $16, enough for 2. The homemade bread was delicious! Had a smoothie and a slushie. All food and drinks we ordered were of an excellent quality. Love the outdoor seating, all very relaxing atmosphere, listening to chickens cluck, kids running around happily and the birds in the trees. The staff were so hardworking and professional and friendly. We took home a delicious jar of mango chutney. We want to come back already! Well done, Crazy Acres, on running such a great place.

I went to crazy acres expecting a friendly outback country vibe but instead I was greeted by an unpleasant host who was rude and quite false in her manor.
The bag packers that worked there were very pleasant but It was obvious they were not there for the atmosphere or the friendly host.
I would not recommend this place as it is overpriced (half a slice of ham cut into two triangles is what I got on my platter I paid $18 for), the workers seem mistreated as I heard the host shouting at them and talking down to them and there is little there except ice-cream..

Hi, Sorry to hear you seem to have such a bad experience at our farm. All feedback of course is welcome and I'm sure I will let the staff know that if they feel mistreated they are free to leave! At no time have they been shouted at I can assure you. Time and time again I am told that our prices (especially for the NT) are very reasonable so I am sorry you didn't find them agreeable and I'm sorry you feel that the home cooked honey roasted ham, alongside the roast beef, locally smoked Barramundi and the 2 freshly made salads that you got on your platter that you speak about were not worth the $18 you paid. Thanks again for your feedback.

Where to start...atrocious experience and food. As soon as we drove in the drive way we should have turned around. Run down, uninspiring, no love at all. We were recommended the ice cream from the staff at the Dechchair Cinema so thought we'd take a drive and check it out. Don't bother. It's not as though they were even trying really hard and things were not going their way. The ice cream was icey, not creamy, and nowhere near worth the 45 min drive each way for Darwin. The farmer's platter was a joke. We couldn't believe our eyes when it arrived. 2 wafer slim slices of cheese cut into triangles (would have put that in my children's sandwiches at primary school), a slice of ham (same for the sandwich), 2 pickled onions, coleslaw, and home made mustard pickles and bread that was appreciated. Can't get away with that level of standard these days. We live remote so understand location, and Darwin's not far for supplies and checking hospitality standards. They need to respect and value their guests a lot more than that!

Well, where to start with a response..... Thanks for taking the time to review. I am so disappointed that you find our Mango farm and Café to be "run down" We are a working mango farm with new seating areas this year, a range of local products and believe me, plenty of love goes in to what we do! Just obviously not what you were expecting. Yes, we are not a shiny, newly painted café. Our tables are wooden and rustic, our seating is outside under big shaded areas, where you can look at the tropical trees we have growing or the veggie patch. Everything reflects what we do and who we are as a working family mango farm. The ice cream is recommended by the staff at The Deckchair Cinema as that is one of the places who stock our ice cream and have done so for the last 4 years. Our ice cream is churned weekly and made from pure thickened cream and real fruit and so it would be hard not to be "creamy" although I respect your opinion on that. I understand that you feel what was on the Farmers Platter would go in your kids sandwich. Mine too!! The ham is honey roasted by us using local honey, the pickles are homemade, the bread also homemade and freshly baked every morning and we make the coleslaw. No lack of love in what we do here and we take pride in making the majority of our menu from scratch. Again, thanks for taking the time to review. Karen

We stopped here on the way to Litchfield and had a lovely lunch. The food was very well priced. We had delicious ham, cheese and pickle toasties with salad and mango smoothies. The mango popsicles were refreshing on a hot day. All excellent! I would definitely recommend stopping here on the way to, or the way back from your Litchfield adventures.

Thanks for the great review. It won't be long before the road to Litchfield is all sealed and hopefully even more people will find their way to Crazy Acres. It's great to do the Litchfield "loop" and experience everything Berry Springs as well as Batchelor has to offer. Glad you enjoyed your food and smoothies and look forward to seeing you again one day on your way through perhaps. Thanks Karen

I've had crazy acres ice cream a few times around Darwin but had never been to their shop in Berry Springs; what a sweet place!! Talk about friendly hospitality, the setting is honest and charming and the products are delicious! We wandered through the fruit gardens and there were children playing and birds around it was a lovely afternoon. I will absolutely return!

We have been here a few times now and each time the food does not disappoint. Yesterday I had a scone that comes with their homemade mango jam which is delightful and fresh cream. Plenty of it too, enough to easily cover the scone top and bottom, which was also light and up there with great scones. Hubby had a pulled pork burger and it was very tasty he said and plenty of. Came out looking very appealing and I will try next time. Daughter had a wrap and no complaints came from her and the grandchild was happy with the chocolate cake that comes with a scoop of ice cream. She was very happy washed down with a chocolate milkshake. Coffee is good and prices are too, not over the top at all. The surroundings are very average and there is huge potential for a shady oasis but we were comfy at the table and service was good. Its a pleasant short trip down the track from Darwin out the Cox Peninsula Rd and I think only open during tourist season but definitely worth going to.

Thanks DebraR199 Glad you enjoyed your visit. Yes, only open from May til Sept for the beautiful Dry season weather and unfortunately with such a dry Wet season and the risk of our water running out, the place is pretty dry and dusty this year which does give it a bit of an "average look" but hopefully with a good Wet season this year we will be green and lush again for next Dry. Sounds like you had a good range of some of our most popular dishes with the scones and the pulled pork being favourites amongst our regulars. Hope to see you out here again when we reopen for Dry season 2020. Thanks Karen

After a swim at Berry Springs We can definitely recommend that you drive a few km further for lunch or a snack. I LOVED the mango smoothie and passionfruit was my pick icecream. BUT the big winner was the picnic platter. All tasty morsels and delicious home made bread/damper. Small menu but I am sure you will find something to fill up on.
