- ClaireBear007113 contributionsA must see destinationThis wildlife park 65km from Darwin is sensational. Wildlife abounds in this 1000 acre park. Arrive early to book into the animal feeding experiences that are well worth the few extra dollars. The park staff are really friendly and have a wealth of knowledge. The cafe offers delicious fresh food at reasonable cost or BYO picnic. An open air train takes you from one attraction to another or stroll around at your leisure. Highly recommended.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 19 January 2024
- Lorraine LTarwin Lower, Australia3,581 contributionsThis attraction is not to be missedA fantastic attraction that is very well organised. There is a cafe at the entry where we picked up a good coffee to take on the little train to our first stop the Flight Deck. The train runs every half hour which gave us time to have a look through a display and then return to catch the next train to move onto our next stop. The park covers 6kms and the walkways are all well maintained, there is approx 400mts between each display or if you prefer like us you can catch the train. After the Flight Deck it was time to move onto the Nocturnal House, the Monsoon Forest Walk through the Walk Through Aviaries and finally the Aquarium.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 May 2024
- becee2022Wollongong, Australia2 contributionsAwesome day and great park!Such an amazing day. Felt like we were in the wild and got to see so many awesome top end animals. Did the glider feeding experience and it was the best animal encounter experience we have ever done! We had so much time in the enclosure with the gliders climbing on us and enjoying their nectar. Declan did a fantastic job telling us all about the gliders and bandicoot. Fi was also great when we went to the wallaby talk and as a bonus we got to see the baby tree rat. The train drivers were so friendly and gave lots of information on the trip around and even pointed out some rare birds. The bird show was fantastic! Loved our day here. Recommended getting there early to book encounters and make the most of the park.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 July 2024
- Wayne DomaschenzBallarat, Australia382 contributionsA big surprise lots to see and modern rangers and upkeep of parkIt was actually a good day, we have seen a few zoos and wildlife parks, thought it could have been one of those old outdated parks. We would highly recommend, there were no online programs available to plan online, best to get there just after 9am to see most of the set shows and presentations, copy attached in pic, this may change from time to time. We loved the bird presentation with birds flying around the crowd following orders for food. Saw the Oolloo Sandbar talk, try to see this one as well. The grounds are very big and lots of walking involved, there is a bus train type of transport that goes around the park every half hour. It’s a bit hard to use the bus and see all of the shows without some extra walking. Berry Springs is just down the road ideal for a cool off after a big dayVisited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 July 2024
- sparks0375Perth, Australia70 contributionsFantastic day out for the familyThe animals were so active we got to see pretty much everything we wanted to. It was easy to walk or catch the train around and each area was really good. The staff were so friendly and helpful too. There is a good range of food for lunch and a great playground for littlies.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 August 2024
- Deb M6 contributionsBrilliant wildlifeFabulous in so many respects. We spent a great four hours exploring the numerous and very well set up exhibits. The free shuttle bus was a true bonus with informative commentary. The exhibits were clean , well set out and told the perfect story of the NT flora and fauna. A great half day with good sealed pathways throughout which makes for easy access for any form of wheel. Congratulations to the NT governor for setting up this superb centre - a must do for anyone visiting the NTVisited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 August 2024
- Jason R7 contributionsClose-Up Encounters with NT WildlifeEducational, beautifully laid out and all-encompassing panorama of wildlife in the NT. My only complaint is the snack bar. For an attraction that presents the preciousness of nature and the inter-dependency of life, their utilization of plastic cups and plastic straws is outrageous and obscenely contradictory to what is presented and taught. PLEASE CLEAN UP YOUR ACT!!!Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 September 2024
- RobynradGreater Sydney, Australia822 contributionsGreat nature park, wonderful opportunity to have close up encounter with sugar gliders.Beautifully laid out park with authentic local birds and animals. It does get warm here so the train was helpful to get around. Some exhibits are air conditioned. We spent about 4 hours here so did not see all the exhibits but did hear talks for wallabies, dingos and pelicans. Two huge barramundi and turtles also in the pelican pond. We really enjoyed the bird show, birds doing just what they do naturally. Stunning to see them close up. Lastly we visited the nocturnal house and I participated in an encounter with the gorgeous sugar gliders. It was a unique experience to have these tiny, lively and beautiful little animals crawl along my arms and over my shoulders. Worth every dollar. The staff at every exhibit were knowledgeable and friendly and obviously happy in their work. Thete is also a cafe for snacks and drinks. The park is just down the road from Berry Springs and is a great day out from Darwin, highly recommend!Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 September 2024

We went out to Territory wildlife park today while the weather was tetrible. We were the only people there braving the weather and the staff were beyond amazing!! They kept us informed, brought out special animals to make the expiriemce more amazing and made suggestions that were weather friendly! I cannot put into words what an amazing day we had! Thr train drivers were amazing in thier knowledge and care and every single person made sure we had an AMAZING day even being the only ones there. I would reccommend the park to anyone, and am so greatful for how happy they made my son on a day i thought we were going to miss out on!! If anyone lives in the territory, visit in the wet or on an overcast or slightly drizzly day - the park was so alive and amazing and having no crowds just showed the passion, drive and dedication of all the staff there!! I wish i could give more than 5 stars on this review!!!

This is an all-day effort! We arrived at 9:30 and caught the last "train" out. The bird show was as good as Taronga. The nocturnal house and aquarium were more extensive than those at Melbourne zoo. The walk through aviary was enormous and the bird enclosures along the monsoon walk felt more natural and better kept than Melbourne. And we loved the surprise at the entry to the monsoon walk. The oolloo sandbar talk and rays were great, and I was very happy to see dingoes. We ran out of time to see the western side with the buffalo, probably because we were always last chatting to the keepers as they stayed on and answered questions about the territory and their work. Darwin, you have every right to be very proud of your park. Tip: bring a picnic for the lovely grounds and even consider bikes or scooters to get exercise as you go. Also, government owner, please restore the animal encounters and if you can't cover staff costs, then maybe raise the encounter prices! We all wanted to feed a whip ray!
PS ignore poor scoring reviews. Not sure what other zoos these guys have visited. This is a massive park and will easily take a whole day to do properly.

So much to see! You really do need a full day to see all the viewings of the wonderful wildlife of the NT.
Staff are very enthusiastic and have so much knowledge that they lovingly share about the wildlife.
Great to see and hear the Ecco care at the wildlife.
I loved the bird show and learned a lot about them. It was great to be so close to them in their environment.
Get there early so you don’t miss the busy timetable. Something to see all during the day.
The train travels around the park so you won’t miss out on any of the shows. A great way for oldies and families with young children to get around.

This place sure knows how to ruin some well made plans. Cruised past on our way to visit Litchfield National park for the day. Kids wanted to stop in for a look. Me, not so much, have seen and done the animal thing. The price tag seemed steep too at $100 for a family. But the wife was as keen as the kids so we paid up. I have to say, I was impressed from the moment we walked in the door, fantastic staff and an excellent facility. Awesome little ‘train’ that carts punters around to the various ‘stations’. Did the nocturnal house and then off to the flight deck for the bird show. Now this is where the mind was officially blown, you have to see it to believe it. Whole family was absolutely captivated for 30 mins. Matt knew his stuff and turned on a first class show. Decided to have an early lunch at the cafe and wait for the fish feeding show. Here I am thinking fish feeding, how exciting can that be? But after having my mind blown at the flight deck, we were going to hang around and check it out. Wasn’t disappointed, the archer fish were incredible, and those big whip rays looked like they just wanted a big cuddle. Caught the train to a few other exhibits, aquarium was on point as well as the dingos. But by now, our day was done, but still had so much left in the park that we had not yet explored. If only the ticket allowed us to come back the next day to visit the missed destinations.
The day planned for Litchfield was a distant memory.
Well worth the entry fee, this place is amazing. Plan to spend a whole day here, it’s certainly not an in and out in an hour destination.

My husband and I recently moved to Darwin and have absolutely loved being able to visit this park on a regular basis. The staff are incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and they always strive to ensure we enjoy and make the most of our visits. Furthermore, the park is beautifully laid out and the animals are really well cared for. I recently took some friends visiting from interstate who were concerned about the hot weather on the day. The staff helped us plan our visit to avoid the heat as much as possible and kept checking in throughout the day, ensuring we caught the train as much as possible. Lucky for us, it was a quiet day at the park and we ended feeling like we were on our own private tour! Thank you!!

Hi woodswallows, thank you so much for this amazing 5-star review and for taking the time to tell others about your visit to the Territory Wildlife Park. We really appreciate your continued patronage and for bringing your visiting friends from interstate. The Territory Wildlife Park is really the best introduction to the Top End. The park is divided up into sections with train stops out the front of each. It is possible and easy enough to walk from one to the other but if you time it right you can catch the train as it goes past and then get dropped off at the next exhibit. We probably walked most of the way and caught the train twice, The first time when we first got there to get our bearings and see what was on offer. After that we mostly walked from one section to the next. You can walk via the road or there are paths closer in towards the exhibits which provide a bit more shade than the road. Plenty of animals and exhibits are set amongst the bushland so they blend in. We paid $15 each to feed the whiprays and give them a pat, which was a great experience. Plenty of fish to feed them which was good, as having done many experiences elsewhere, you tend to get very minimal feed and chance to interact with the animals. There was water and soap to clean up afterwards. Memorial to Giant Clams is inside the Wildlife Park. Staff driving the trains were very informative and funny. Lots of parking spots. A great day and would definitely recommend.

The wildlife park is hands down the best place to visit in Darwin, especially if you’re a fan of animals. With standard entry you can feed and hang with wallabies and water buffalo. But if you pay a few bucks extra you can actually go into the sugar glider exhibit and have them crawl all over you. It’s a really cool place to go for kids and adults alike. The animals are well cared for and the staff are super friendly and helpful. We relocated to Darwin from Toronto and have yearly passes to visit as often as we can. Sometimes we bring our bikes, which is better during the heat of the day in the wet season. But there are a few air conditioned exhibits if you’d prefer to stay cool. I feel like I see something new every time we visit.

Warmly recommended for all ages. A small group of us spent the day at the Territory Wildlife Park, sketching and photographing the animals - we particularly enjoyed the 'Animal Encounter' with a delightful ow and his Keeper, who shared his amazingly knowledge of birds of prey. We also enjoyed the friendly, rescued wallabies, the Forest bird feeding, Pelicans, Aquarium and the Emus. Excellent coffee, lunch and snacks in the Air conditioned cafe and the regular train service, with helpful drivers, meant that those of us who didn't feel like walking too far could still enjoy all the exhibits. We still have a lot more to see for a return visit!

We visited the park as part of a cruise ship tour. What a great visit! The guide steered us as to how best use our time to see as many of the "shows" as possible.
We arrived at the visitor center and then bordered a tram to the kangaroo area where we git to "mingle" with the kangaroos and feed them - all why listening to a guide explain their habits.
Next we got on the tram again and went to the pelican feeding. Many huge, beautiful birds fighting for a fish! Fun.
Then we went to the wild bird demonstration where we saw hawks, owls, and other birds snatching food out of the air, eating ostrich eggs, and just exhibiting their natural behavior.
At this point we were running out of time so we went back to the visitor center where we experienced more close up animal experiences.
This was a wonder day!

Four day weekend with granddaughter and this park was always on our radar. Arrived just in time for the bird show with commentary by a lady who genuinely loved what she was doing and knew her stuff. Spoke at a level for all age groups to appreciate. The next two and a half hours had us walking through well thought out habitats for so much of Australia’s wildlife. A brilliant cross section of all Oz has to offer + more. Great for all ages. We didn’t make it to all the shows but I’ve no doubt they would have been presented by knowledgeable staff. We almost forgot we were exercising in the heat it was so good. Take water (although waters bubblers are positioned around the park), wide brimmed hat and wear walking shoes. We enjoyed that ice block at the end though!

Are all the attractions open during the wet season?
Written 16 March 2016
Hi there, our Flight Deck is closed until Easter as we are having a new footpath laid, however a bird encounter is offered instead at the main station. All other exhibits and shows are open all year round, except in extreme weather, in which case we post updates on our Facebook site :) Take care and hope to see you soon!

Hi, my husband and I are planning to visit this place next Sunday (16 August 2015). What is the best way for us to travel there? Most car rental companies closes at noon during the weekend. Hence, renting a car is not an option for us.

Hi there, we have two local tour operators who regularly bring visitors to our Park who may have availability on the date you would like to visit us! They are:
Ursula from 'Reel Screamin' Barra Fishing'
Phone: +61 427 474 434
Rob from 'Ethical Adventures'
Phone: +61 488 442 269
I can't put their email addresses in this response as it is against Trip Advisor's policy but if you google 'Reel Screamin Barra Fishing' and 'Ethical Adventures Darwin' you will find their email addresses :)
Kind regards,
