Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

These age old cedar trees take on weird and wonderful shapes. The trails through the reserve are not difficult. You don't really need to walk the entire trail system as the forest does start to look the same after a brief walk. But don't miss these relatively high altitude, endangered trees. They are wonderful to look at and may not be around for much longer.

It is a wonderful place to visit, we went to Al Shouf Cedars Reserve and there was snow at that time.
There you will be standing on the top of the mountain viewing the valleys and the sea at one time.

You'll feel the majesty of the place, if you listen carefully you'll hear the wind into the the cedar branches, if you're lucky you'll have some fog that day and you'll enjoy it even more - while there plant a cedar in your name or your loved one name to commemorate the moment

Peaceful, green, well-managed and clean…a total antidote to the noise and garbage of everywhere else in Beirut. There are gentle and challenging trails to follow depending upon your fitness and appetite for exercise. As a keen but mobility-limited visitor I enjoyed walking in the shade of these lovely trees whilst experiencing the wonderful views from the mountain. There’s a “lake” to trek to, however it’s really a small, man made reservoir for migrating birds to refresh themselves from and it looks rather out of place amongst the trees. One innovation I appreciated…anyone can buy a tree planted with their name on it in perpetuity. This is a great idea! Only 100, 000 Lebanese pounds. Bargain.

There an entrance fee around 5$ per person. All the trails had signs do not trespass.only one was open and it was very short like 7 minutes. They don't allow you to hike by yourself.you to have a guide and make a reservation as well.No signs to guide you as well and the Rangers wasn't friendly as well when we brought the issue to their attention.

An excellent place for hiking or relaxing and meditating. I was impressed how big this reserve is and how it has been preserved and maintained This time we took the short track as we have not been equipped for a long ride and we had some program for the remaining of the day. Next time, it is a must to allocate 3 to 4 hours if not more.

We've always gone to the cedars in the north, but the cedars at Barouk are way more impressive! The trees are bigger, which I suppose means they are older. They're near Maaser, a gorgeous village that has overnight accommodations.

A couple of hours outside of Beirut was the Barouk National Forest. We were on a tour bus and the drive was beautiful. We had a wonderful guide; it was a fairly easy walking trail.

Hi, do I need my hiking boots in this area or would trainers be ok?

How much is the entrance fee and if the bus is uo to the entrance only how could one get into the reserve
Written 9 February 2019
Hi, As far as I remember, the entrance fee was 7 to 10 thousand Lebanese Liras. As for walking from the entrance gate to the cedars area, it is too long. In the summer time, all vehicle were allowed to drive up to the top where you can enter the cedars' forest.

At the Barouk entrance, is there a walk of 20-60 minutes that you can see the cedars? Or do you have to go deeper into the reserve?
Written 16 September 2017
An hour is sufficient to get up to some of the cedars. The guides are very helpful so just tell hem what your time constraint is.
