Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went on 12 September 2018. The location is so beautiful but reaching there is very hard. I don't advise anybody to go there with their own car. There are daily tours from Ayder. But the journey took maybe an hour (I didn't check this because I was busy trying to stay in my seat). I paid 40 Turkish for 3 locations (sal

Don't even try this in a rental car. There are 4-wheel drive outfits who can take you up. There are several places for hikers to eat at the top, and the views of the Kaçkar mountains are great. There are also short hiking trails through the fir forest to the neighboring mountain settlement where a family can serve you lunch from their 200 year old log house.

This is really one of the most attractive highlands with a impressive view. But unfortunately a photo frame from this place is very famous at Instagram and a lot of people are coming to this highland to take that shoot and share on Instgram. So this place even though its very bad road under danger of illegal housing and crowds. The architecture is still original in the area but very close to those ugly, awful, multifold hotel buildings. Hey you, please don't go all this long way there just for a share and 35 likes. I'll promise to send you that photo and you can photoshop yourself on.

One of the most amazing place i have ever been in my life. I have been there twice and experience two different climates in two consecutive days. One day it was Hot and sunny and clear sky while the other day it was rainy, foggy and Cloudy. Both were beautiful. After an hour tiring jeep ride to this precious land It feels like you are close to god and away from people. There is a short path from Pokut to Sal flatland. You can take a short walk between these places. The sunset at Sal is outstanding worth to see. You can stop by Pilunc çayevi and eat one of the most delicious rice puddings ever.
If you have a chance to go, dont miss it or dont postpone it, just go and enjoy.

I drove up to Pokut village on a wet day. The hilltop was surrounded in clouds but cleared a few minutes for a great view from the restaurant at the top. We worth the trip. also great views from the road on the way up.

A beautiful sight, both light and advanced trekking routes... The highland is not yet explored by many so its still a bit secluded place. If you are fan of the mountains and the nature, the Pokut Highland is a place to see!

It is a fantastic region with plenty of small mountain houses. It is possible to accomodate there. The plateau provide fresh air, stunning landscape and delicious local food. The only problem is that it is hard to reach the region because of the mountain root.

The 90 minute drive up the to the plateau is scary and very daunting - especially when you are not mentally prepared for it. Dirt roads with muddy patches and steep cliffs. But once you get to the top the views are breath taking and so natural.

I notice that most of you talk about the rough road to get to Pokut Highlands. Before reading this trail, I was thinking about car rental from Trabzon airport. Any suggestions on an easier way to go to Camlihemsin and go further on top of the Pokut Highlands?
If i rent a car, where do you suggest I stay at the foot of the mountains? Are there any available transportation to go up the Pokut Highlands? Planned trip will be on 30 Nov -3 Dec.
Thanks a lot in advance.

Hi ,
Im writing you now while im there myself , so first of all I recommend renting a 4x4 car , without it you won’t be able to most of the places , very important .
I went to ayder yaylasi which is somehow close to pokut aylasi , as far as where to stay there’s many bungalows for rent near the town of camlihemsin , one i would recommend is pula bungalows which sits exactly infront of the river , great view .
Another would be “bungalove tatil yuo “ bungalows , great view from top of the mountain.
No public transportation that im aware of , seen a couple of taxis in my 5 days stay here , rental off road car is again highly recommended.
Have fun !
Oh and one more thing , rent from the city of trabzom it’ll be much cheaper , you can take a taxi from the airport to the city which costs around 30 turkish liras and around 10-15 minutes drive.

Where can I hire a 4WD to drive all the way up? Is there a place where I can park my Sedan and take the SUV?
Written 24 February 2019
I am not certain - you can check at your hotel or at the cafe by the river (Kahve Cinciva) at Senyuva about 300 m before the turn left to take the road up to pokut. There are many ford transit vans with tour groups going up - so maybe you can join one of these. To hire a 4WD eg Duster - I think you will need to try in Rize city.
