Probably not the best of Sri Lankan beaches but still a nice spot. The middle of the cove is the best as the ends are rocky and the one section that seems to be frequented by locals has garbage strewn about. The rest of the beach is pretty clean. The sand is powdery and the water is clear. Downside if you aren’t staying at one of the beach resorts is that there is zero shade. All trees and structures are on private property and there is security to make sure you don’t even sit under a tree on the border of resort and beach. Easy to burn fast!

An absolutely beautiful stretch of beach, with a shallow entry and warm waters to enjoy.
It was a bit rough when we visited, but not at all unswimable (3-4’ waves). The heavy surf did product a thick belt of shells, coral and other items at the entry, and a somewhat deep drop at the shore (which quickly levels off), making getting in or out tricky and uncomfortable on the feet.
The only major negative was the amount of waste, plastics and other random debris in the ocean. It was an ugly situation, and detracted from the natural splendour of the place. Sad the people would be so shortsighted and not respect the beautiful surroundings.

Wonderfull beach and safe sea-bathing place at East Coast in Sri Lanka
When we go to the east coast in Sri Lanka, we always select Pasikudha beach for sea-bathing and relaxing at the beach.
The beach is clean. This warm blue sea is calm (during April in our experience) and can enjoy swimming safely.

December is not the season - but very good place to relax and enjoy the nature. Beach was a clean to a certain extent and a place and good for sea bath. Of course we had great pleasure in visiting the place.
its a 6 hour dive from colombo - but worth it.

The beach is really nice to go for walk up to the rock (about 2 km) but loads of activities are available. Really enjoyed the snorkeling, saw loads of fish corals, etc and was good value too

The beach is beautiful, white sand and clean sea infront of the hotels, after the hotels the beach is not as well kept and some areas full of coral. The weather was on in August, however, what we were not told is that there are high winds in August, with upto 25kmph which was every day and ruined the tranquility a bit as walking down the beach we were sand blasted.

Passikudah is one of the best beaches in the eastern coast having breathtaking views. If you are looking at places to stay, I would reccommend Uga bay and Anilana hotels as they provide exceptional service.

Passikudah Beach is one of the best in Sri Lanka. It's so attractive, calm, has beautiful white sand. There are good quality 4-5* hotels around. It's so peaceful, no disturbance from beach boys. We enjoyed swimming, had perfect relaxation. Perfect time to travel from May to September.

Our guests were so happy and amazed on the visit which they selected on our request..Pasikudah is known to have one of the longest stretches of shallow reef coastline in the world. People walk kilometers into the sea because the water is only a few inches deep and the current is relatively weak compared to the rest of Sri Lanka's coasts.

Hello together, my girlfriend and I (30 years) are currently planning to travel to Sri Lanka in September. We would like to relax on the beach for another 5 days. Are there bars and restaurants near the hotels? Or do you have tips which hotel? Or do you have to eat in the hotel? Kind regards

Hello, we want to visit Passikudah in the end of September, can you suggest where to stay so we will be able to swim in the sea? And also are there restaurants or we should book full board hotel?
Written 24 August 2019
As I know during September sea is a bit rough there. So I am not sure whether you can get into the sea for sure. This depends on your swimming skills too. I would like to recommend Maalu Maalu resort and if the sea is fine you can even get into the sea from there. Need to mention that at Maalu Maalu food is amazing.

Hi... We are a group with children visiting passikudah in late June. I see a lot of issues with hotels claiming a beachfront, but having a beach strewn with Coral which is impossible to walk on/swim in.
We are looking for a typical beach holiday where we want to walk along the beach, swim in the sea and go for watersports.
Please advise as to which would be hotels that have a beach front along which we can do these activities.
Also, for watersports is it only the passikudah public beach which will have the facilities?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi , yes , June is one of the best period to visit Pasikudah, Also in Pasikudah ther are water sports available these days. The Pasikudah bay is clean in from of The Calm Hotel and that surrounding area.
Also you can get more information and even best rates from the manager by writing an e-mail direct to GM The Calm hotel and get his email address from web site.
Hope I have answered well your question .

Visiting Pasikuda at the end of September would be a good idea or it wouldn't be convenient due to weather conditions? Is there anybody who can answer me please?

Hi, I'm planning on visiting passikudah in June this year and I recently found out about Dengue virus. Do the hotels in passikudah uses fogging to scare the mosquitoes away and is there even a lot of mosquitoes in this area?
Written 3 January 2019
No they aren't. Mosquitoes depends where you are sleeping in Sri Lanka.

Visiting Sri Lanka in Feb spending 14 nights in Ahungalle but really fancy spending 1 or 2 nights in Pasikudah is Feb a good time of year to visit? 2 adults and 2 children
Written 2 December 2018
Passikudah is always great to visit. In February, the climate is pretty hot, dry and high humidity. If you like to feel that, just go on February.
Beach is beautiful as ever, no problem on that. Always safe to have sea bath, but careful on the flag set on beach.

I'm planning to visit during July end or mid August. Would it be tge right time to visit?
Written 14 May 2018
Yes, this is indeed a good time but the places would be little expensive than normal and the beach can be busy - esp, August is school holidays in the country
