Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went early in the morning slightly out of season and practically had the place to ourselves. We have been on a hot early July day and seen the young lads ignoring the “no diving” notices and jumping from the bridges to the river below. It is easy to park, and the beach is slightly stony but not too uncomfortable. There is a cafe and a very informative visitors centre as well.

After searching the top ten places to swim in the South of France we picked this natural gem! A beautiful gorge and lake where the boys (son 14 yrs and Dad) were cliff diving from 5-30ft drops, scary to watch!! Whilst the girls took a leisurely kayak through the gorge. The water is beautifully clear with an array of small fish. There are canoes for hire but a small inflatable would help you cruise through the water. Would love to return again on future trips!

Visited here as part of our visit to St. Guilhelm le Desert village. It is a beautiful spot with amazing views and a wonderful place to take your swimming things to and go for a swim in the river.

Maybe not worth a trip into the mountains but if you're already there (at the Grotte Clamousis, perhaps) it's a nice little lake in the mountains where the locals go to swim and sunbathe. Just up from the lake is a brand new complex of toilets, shop and café near the car park. It looks as though the municipality has spent a lot of money to make it attractive to visitors.

This is a great place to swim after visiting Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. The scenery is very beautiful and water is shallow at beach.

This is one of those sites that is better from afar. By getting up close you lose the impact. There is a car park nearby and a short walk (via a shop of course!). The lake looked ok for a sunny day, but the beach was stones. The bridges themselves look spectacular from below, and you can get some good photos.

As a long time swimmer in Herault river, this is one of the best place to go. Yet between mid-July and mid-August, it's hell on Earth. Why ? It's crowed, mostly during week-end, almost as much as the sea beaches, and stupid people keep on jumping from the bridge or rocks without any attention to the swimmers below.

We used to visit this place 20 years ago on a regular basis. Parking was entertaining!!! Pull up on side if the road and pray when you returned that your wing mirrors were still attached to your car. Now tho, very well planned out car parks and even a proper path down the stone beach with toilet facilities available too. Great to sit on the pebble beach and let the kids paddle.
Canoe hire further down the river is a good days worth of fun.
Older kids and locals spend many hours in the summer jumping off rocks into the deep crystal clear fresh water , terrifying tourists with feats of bravery!
Def recommend a visit anytime of the year. We went last week and only 5 other people at the lake! Gets a lot busier during the summer but never too overcrowded due to lovely spaciousness.

Our family pulled into this spot at sundown after a day at Saint Guilhelm le Desert and glad we did. Great photo opportunities. Looks like a nice spot to swim in warmer months.

This is a lovely spot and the bridge and gorge of the river Herault are very impressive. The newish parking (well away from the bridge) and associated visitor centre are very sympathetically planned to enhance the visit. The centre has a tourist office and a wine tasting centre where prize winning local wines can be tasted and purchased along with other local delicacies. The beach and swimming area were very quiet in late September but we saw people swimming there. As we were 3 generations with a 3 month old baby we did not try the canoeing but in different circumstances it looks a great experience as the gorge is very wild and dramatic.
