People told me that this place is like Cartagena, and yes, but a little bit. The streets are a bit dirty and smell musty. It is a very lonely place at night and it is not advisable to go at that time.

What a charming rivertown, with the wild Magdalena rollicking through it. Mostly Colombians seem to visit here, but as a North American I recommend it too. A very pleasant authentic and historic Colombian town. Worth a half day or so to walk and enjoy.

For a nice morning walk you can be able to see old colonial houses, still paved with stones from the spanish times.

Good history of one part of Colombia, very old houses and streets. Good plan for families. Enjoy it.

Las Trampas street has an enchant based on the architecture you can see along. Colonial houses and small balconies offer a time travel to the 1600´s.

our hotel, Las Tampas, gave us a superb tour for about 1 hour of the historic part of this really interesting old town on the magdelana river. Lots of history of the major port 500km up river from the Caribbean.
