On our way from Svaneti to Kutaisi, we had a one night stopover in Zugdidi. We loved it, although the main attraction (palace) was closed because of elections. The market was lovely and people very welcoming. We could check in at any time, the woman at the bakery didn't want me to pay for a traditional bread. Nobody bothers us and as we had to buy a special sunglasses, the guy in the store was very patient using Google translate. Loved the place and far better than to drive the long drive from Mestia to Kutasi in one day. Of course some buildings are very 'old', but intriguing especially with the big Dutch truck in front.

I was dropped off at the end of Zugdidi Boulevard when I took a marshrutka from Batumi and before getting a taxi to the Enguri bridge. The street is modern and wide with plenty of trees. I wouldn't say it's a tourist attraction of itself, but it's nice enough.
