Killala grew on me as a walkabout town and leaves fine fresh memories . It has multitude of nooks and crannies, an atmospheric church or two, impressive captain's house and wharf area and the famous well preserved and slightly re-engineered tower. I couldn't agree more...More

If you're near Killala, it's worth having a look at this very well preserved Round Tower. Information is written just outside and inside the entrance.

An impressive and imposing round tower in an historic village. It is situated beside a 17th century deanery and carparking. You can only get a good photograph or view when you are a bit removed from it.

I could only see the tower from the street, I could not figure out how to get close to it. Maybe a few signs would help.

A really nice experience - Kilalla is an interesting fishing port/town that should not be skipped on your tour of The Great Atlantic Way. The details on the history can be viewed on my first photo.
