We spent the afternoon as a family foraging with Mary and her cats. Mary's foraging knowledge and experience is first class. We then cooked a delicious vegan lunch using some of the leaves we collected. We would highly recommend this to all our friends, family and anyone else with an interest in foraging or nature!

My goodness what a delightful afternoon we had with Wild Food Mary!
Mary is an absolute delight and an excellent foraging guide. My husband and I learned so much about the flora of rural Ireland. We dipped into a freezing creek to capture chanterelle mushrooms, then found wild blueberries atop a nearby mountain, and all sorts of treasures in between. Mary loves to impart her knowledge about the healing properties of food, how to forage, and even local history. Her conversational teaching style is fun and thought provoking; her passion is infectious; her curiosity invites you to look more closely into nature. I can't think of a better way to explore the wilds of Ireland.

This was the highlight of our trip to Ireland from the states. Mary is the sweetest & we had so much fun with her. As well as learned a lot. Great family feeling & great food & drink. We visited in November 2018.

I spent a night staying at Mary's home whilst up to visit Lough Boora and Birr . I was delighted to discover a room in such a bright cheerful home to stay in the quiet of the countryside. Mary's house is a lovingly restored old farmhouse which is spotlessly clean, the bed was very cosy, and the rooms were airy and spacious. I choose one with good WIFI.
Mary gave me a lovely fresh breakfast including homemade granola, dairy free bread and fresh eggs in the morning, which set me up for the day. I felt very welcome in this house, and appreciated the environmentally conscious choices provided for visitors here, while enjoying in the the genuine warmth of Mary's company. I especially enjoyed her lovely garden. I also benefits from browsing through some of her collection of books on plants there. I could sincerely recommend a stay at Mary's house, to my best friends and hope to return again.

A fantastic day with a very personable and knowledge host.
The day started with coffee and a chat to discover what the group wanted out of the visit, then we foraged around the local hedgerows and in Mary's own garden, tasting as we went, and learning which plants were good herbal remedies. After a delicious vegetarian, mostly foraged, lunch we went further afield for a second foraging trip in another type of habitat.
Bring wellies and/or walking boots and waterproof in case of rain. A camera and notebook is a good idea to help remember what you're looking out for on future trips around your own local hedgerows!
Very good value for money.

Completed a foraging walk with Mary over the weekend, Found the walk very educational and fun..sampled some of her products also and would highly rate them,,,,beneficial course to do - even if you only take one or two tips from the course and use them it will be worthwhile. Suitable for all age groups...I would recommend...Mary was happy to answer questions as part of the forage walk...

What a wonderful day. We meet our wonderful guide Mary and set straight to work. Heading for the hills to pick some delicious blueberries. Every weed, plant, herds along way Mary explained to us the medicinal qualities and how to use it. From arthritis and heart problem to aniexty and jet lag. Mary had a remedy. After we went on our nature walk and berry pick, we headed back to Mary's stunning home for some lunch that she had prepared for us. Cheese from the local farm, fruits and veg from her own garden. Everything was as local as she could get! We also sampled some of her beautiful wines and spirits. What a treat that was! To finish we got about of her garden and learnt more about plants and weeds that are magical FREE remedies mother nature provides!
One tip I would suggest before Mary starts here wonderful tour one person of the group records her as the amount of knowledge the women has knows no limits!
The perfect activity for any occasion, we were a Hen Party (which the hangover remedies save some lives that day!) and everyone of us were impressed by Mary's knowledge and how warm and friendly she was.
Thanks again Mary, You played a pivotal roll in Christine's Hen Weekend!

Mary is such a great host. She is knowledgeable, hospitable and has a worldly charm that is irresistible like visiting a long lost friend. I encourage everyone to try the liqueurs and home made food. You won’t be disappointed, simply delicious. Definitely a highlight of our trip in Ireland, next time we hope to do a foraging walk

Did a foraging course with Mary and it was amazing. I was a little skeptical what to expect but from once we arrived we were warmly greeted and made to feel at home. Mary took us on a forage and it was very enjoyable and educational! Even more so as it was followed by a meal incorporating the foraged food so we could see exactly how to use it and a tour of how to preserve wild foods, all in very good company and a relaxed atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend.

My husband and I have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday foraging with Mary.
The day started with lovely tea and home baked cookies and home made jam in Mary's kitchen. Mary was so welcoming from the beginning and spent time getting to know each of us and what we wanted to get out of the day before we set off.
We foraged around the hedgerows on the road outside of Mary's house and then Mary took us around her garden to show us the huge amount of commonly growing edible plants. There was a big focus on medicinal uses for the plants too.
Mary is extremely knowledgeable and was delighted to answer all of our questions. Mary generously gave seeds & cuttings from her garden for whatever plants interested us.
We had the most delicious and generous lunch of soup/ salads/ cheese/ home baked breads and cakes. Everything was home made and organic and most was based on foraged food. Mary had no problem catering for my multiple food sensitivities which I had let her know about in advance.
After lunch Mary took us to a local woods to look for mushrooms.
Mary is incredibly generous. Any ailment that was mentioned Mary was able to offer a remedy for it. She gave away jars of creams and infused oils that she had made herself. Mary even gave me one of her potted aloe Vera plants and a bag of gluten free granola that she had made to take home with me! Mary was also generous with her time and brought us all back for more Tea and cakes before our departure! At €50 each for the day it was incredible value.
We had the most wonderful day with a really special lady. We've already booked in for another day next month and I'm already excited about it!
