We had the chance to play both courses in the past year and it was a real trip down memory lane. While I still have more gra for the Old Course, the Cashen course has matured and is a truly wonderful track in its own...More

Yes there are a few picturesque holes, but the course in worn out by all the traffic and it takes 5+ hours to complete a round. I think Lahinch and the European Club are miles ahead of it. And for the first 6 holes, the...More

I knew Ballybunion would be very challenging, and it was. What I did not expect was the near absence of grass on most fairways. We were told that the management has just reseeded the fairways with a new variety of grass when the famous 8...More

Don't listen to Tom Watson and Tiger and all the other famous golfers in the world who love this course. Try it for yourself ... it just might be the best walk in golf. It is exactly what you probably think about a links golf...More

Like some others we were told in advance the course was hit very bad by a two month drought. You couldn’t tell it by the cart paths as they were as green as can be. The fairways, though, were grooved but brown. Most of the...More

Played in early September and truly felt that due to poor condition of fairways that we should not have been playing. So poor are the fairways that they appear to be poisoned, however understand they have been totally burnt from the summer drought in concert...More

3 month’s of draught impacted courses like Ballybunion with no irrigation. Recent rains will bring it back but may take a couple of months. Ballybunnion is still a premier / legendary links course albeit grass on many... More

Yes, there is a driving range and multiple practice greens. As a group, we rarely hit balls before playing, focusing mostly on the short game and speed of the greens which fluctuated greatly on our trip.
