Two great mills to tour with informative and very helpful guides.

Although unassuming it was easily for me one of my favourite visits, a hidden gem for me anyway... read more

Very interesting and informative FREE tour in an old flax mill now turned into a museum. You understand the importance of the flax growing and linen industry in old days in Ireland, the tough work it required, and its decline when artificial fabrics were invented.

David showed us around both mills and explained the history and the workings of the mills. We were shown an interesting film first followed by the guided tour. There is free parking and toilets. Allow yourself an hour.

This is a hidden treasure and free of charge! The guided tour shows you how the mills worked and also gives local history about the family who owned it and the people who worked there. Definitely worth a visit we stayed about an hour.

I think they have an open day during August(may be the bank holiday weekend at the end of the month) where they actually grind corn and have all the equipment working. However I don't know the exact date. Perhaps it is... More
