Interesting history

The history is very interesting and my children took the opportunity to explore the area. Don't go out of your way but if you're in the area, stop by.

Just a stop to say you did it. Nothing special here but a small walk. Take a rain jacket, weather changes constantly.

Very interesting and beautiful walks all across the Burren. Great to learn the local history and geology of the landscape.

Loved our walk with Shane on Black Head Jan 2nd in glorious sunshine. Loads of info and all thoroughly enjoyed from 6 to 76 years of age. Shane is highly engaging and we're back at our Ballyvaghan holiday home still talking about the huge info and many stories he shared. Thank you!

I just happened to come across this place while on our way back to our Airbnb location and I'm so glad we did. We came at sunset and it was great. Just the history that's there is mind blowing. The limestone formations under your feet were formed before humans existed. The tomb was constructed a thousand some years before the... More

We were so lucky to have wonderful weather for our walk with Shane. He is a wealth of knowledge and has a great quirky sense of humour. The flowers were in bloom and we saw Irelands orchids for the first time. The highlight was being at the top of Black head and having a nip of Jameson in a stone... More

We have been surching for the big Dülmen with navigation. As we reached our destination there was nothing. We looked around and then we saw that little stone in the backyard. It's just so tiny it isn't worth to spend a minute there. Even the cows go through the fence and eat the grass around the stone. We were a... More

Our B & B host set us up with Shane Connelly. It was arranged to meet him in a parking lot, where a number of others would also join up. There were 3 couples and Shane. He asked us as a group what everybody was interested in: Botony, geology and history. Based on that he took us up to Black... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience exploring the magical Burren - it is otherworldly... in particular, visiting the area where the Poulnabrone Dolmen (portal tomb) is located. On your walk from the ample and easy to reach carpark, the historical society has done an excellent job of providing several information points where you can travel through time to learn about the... Want a challenge? This is the place to do it. Winding at times and oft times steep but worth it. The view is amazing. Leave plenty of time to get off the grounds if it is getting dark! :)
