Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We drove and parked several hundred meters away only to find out that they were not allowing visitors. At a whim they open or close. We asked the staff at the hotel and they said we didn’t miss a thing. They only allow you in 1 room and that’s not clear when you purchase the ticket.

OK for a ten minute stop. The bottom part is free but you need to pay to go to the top, which isn't really necessary.Village it's in is very pretty and also worth a little walk around.

Heard there was a castle - thanks to TripAdvisor. Turns out it has pretty restrictive hours and tours via appointment. Access is available around the side on the sea side. Good for a 5 minute walk around, not a bad scenic stop. Please see photo for times and appointment information.

Very unique castle, highly recommended if you stay in the area. Our guide was a young boy that explained very well the history of the castle.

My family knew the resident owner of this castle and it sits in a prime position on the water in Oranmore. You can still get a lovely photo especially in evening light with careful cropping to cut out lamp posts and Tesco. Planners why did you allow this to happen?

This atmospheric castle sits forlornly behind the Aldi and Tesco stores. It was closed to the public at the time of our October visit, but made a decent photo opportunity. The rocks are slippery at low tide.

Delighted to have had the chance to visit and see the inside of one of my childhood stomping grounds, this charming and still inhabited local castle; can recommend it as an idiosyncratic tour where you're bound to hear something interesting and different each time from a tour guide who really likes the place

Loved the castle and tour. Sam, the tour guide is young but very knowledgeable and gives a great tour. Loved seeing where and how the owning family lived and also hearing about centuries ago as a soldiers outpost. Only problem is getting in- gate was locked and when a leaving visitor came out and let us in, there was still no reception, ticket area or anyone waiting. We were about to leave when Leonie, the lady of the house, called Sam to come down. Apparently he loves the history so much he gets caught up in the tour and forgets to make it down for the next group! My suggestion is to call or better yet, book ahead of time. If they can work out this one issue, it would be fantastic.

We are looking to stay in a castle for our last night in Ireland. We are doing our trip without a car. Any ideas abut our best bet to do this. We will be in Galway at the end of our trip & will be flying out of dublin. I think our best bet will be something either near Galway or Dublin. Any ideas? Is there any transportation available from Galway to Oranmore or from Oranmore to Dublin.
