Shortwalk and you there
Sep. 2021 • Friends
Another little gem just begin your walk opposite entrance to car park beside the tea room. Very well laid out with Covid guidelines, one way up Another down. Steps up so no wheelchair access unfortunately. Plenty of spots to take pictures and stunning scenery of Glencar Lough too. Toilets are available bring your own sanitizer but very clean and well maintained. A gorgeous handy stop off with food and drink carts too.

With a look

Worth a visit. Very short easy walk to the waterfall. Even better it’s free unlike rip off Wicklow! Car parking can be tricky if it is busy.

Beautiful short walk for families

Visited as a family of 7 (4 - 77). The car park was a bit on the small size (maybe only during the summer). There's clean toilets there too. The bottom of waterfall walk is 5 mins from the car park, with a very small hill (only relevant for those travelling with the elderly who aren't good on their feet). There's 3 benches on the way which was a welcomed stop for my mum. The rest of the 5 min walk (tops), are partly up some steps. The kids loved it and whizzed around twice. There's a one way Covid friendly route too. The onsite cafe was lovely with a varied menu and homemade cakes too. The scenery is beautiful and it's a lovely place to relax and refuel. The playground for smalliest was a hit too.

An absolutely fab spot

I love Glencar Waterfall, one of my most favorite places in Ireland. Its peaceful, scenery is fabulous and the area is so amazing.
I have been here several times and I still love going. I hiked there last year and that was an amazing experience. I went with a group called Hike Hopes.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, there is also a playpark and a cafe that doubles as a crafty shop. There is also an ice cream van and toilet facilities

Lovely picturesque waterfall

A nice place to visit. Waterfall is only a very short walk from the road, with a good accessible path. Plenty of parking on the lake, and a nice cafe to go with it. Great spot to relax.

Very picturesque spot

The Glencar Waterfall is found in some of the most beautiful scenery in the area, and that is saying something.A short climb brings you quickly to the waterfall, which is just stunning.
Car park was busy , public toilets very clean and the cafe and children’s playground had plenty to offer.
A must see

Beautiful spot, great free parking with good views of the lake from the car park. Decent facilities for buying food etc close to parking.
Tarmac path most of the way to wooden steps to get a closer look at an interesting waterfall

Peaceful and ideal for a picnic
May 2021 • Couples
I’d thought, wrongly, that this waterfall was in county Sligo; nope, wrong again matey, the sign says it’s inside county Leitrim and only just.

It’s a beautiful place and designed for walks and picnics. It has toilets and you can potter around the lake area to the coffee bar, but you’ll need a fair level of fitness to go to the top of the waterfall as it’s quite steep.

The water is so clean with a peaty hue given Ireland has wonderful peat bogs - an incredible eco system of its own.

Now it ain’t the falls of Angel, it ain’t Niagara nor Dunn’s River; this waterfall reaches 50ft high and is situated at Glencar Lough, and it inspired perhaps Ireland’s greatest poet William Butler Yeats who put it much better than me in his poem ‘The Stolen Child’

‘Where the wandering water gushes

From the hills above Glen-Car,

In pools among the rushes
That scarce could bathe a star’

Glad we went, once. Paradise Ireland style.
