If your interested in our history then you have to search out Corracloona megalithic tomb. It was built hundreds of years ago but impressive.

This is a nice close attraction that is worth a 1h visit. The ancient tomb area is well marked and interesting for kids and adults.

found this attraction poorly signposted and hard to actual find and the road to the Tomb is blocked with a gate. As there was no sign on the gate we where unsure if access by car 9or foot) was permitted. So being respectful of resent reported farmers objections to walkers and hikers in the Sligo area we parked the car... More

The picture is of Creevykeel court-tomb at Drumcliffe, county Sligo. Corracloona is of interest to the megalithomaniac because it is one of the few tombs in Ireland which not only retains its entrance- (or door-)stone, but has one pierced with a 'kennel-hole' for delivering offerings to (or listening to the voices of) the dead.
