Fantastic Island for walking or riding a donkey without a saddle . But it is sad to see a few cars on this wonderful place

This a great island to visit for a day trip serviced by ferry from the lovely village of Baltimore. I visited there this summer on a really nice day and it was a wonderful experience. The Ferry trip is about 20 minuted from Baltimore and runs over and back on a regular basis. Nice small hotel and bar on the... More

Took the family over to Sherkin by ferry from Baltimore for the afternoon. Lovely small island, with great views of the coast. Nice walks and a couple of quaint places to stop for a beer or a snack.

Got the ferry from Baltimore, €20 return for 2 adults. Just a 10minute journey and you're there. There are lovely Abbey ruins on arrival and then at the junction, there are signposts for various directions. We did Horeshoe Bay which is beautiful and deadly quiet. Then round on to the next road which was a long walk to the very... More

We visited Sherkin Island because we have missed another attraction on our way to Cork. We had spare time and we have been so close to the boat which was after sailing to Sherkin so we have decided to sail. We weren't disappointing at all.

Really well worth a trip to see the island. Beautiful picturesque views and very good Craic. Great food and plenty to drink.

Our annual visit to Sherkin Island this month returned feelings of peace and tranquillity. The ferry from Baltimore harbour takes about 10 minutes and costs euro 10 per adult and euro 4 per child. A family fare is available at euro 25. OAP’s travel free. An island bus costs euro 2 pp and again is free for OAP’s. The bus... More

I first visited Sherkin in 2005 and returned last weekend. It's just as stunning as I recall. There are some beautiful beaches to visit/camp on. It's a little piece of heaven everyone should try and visit.

We moored off Sherkin and had a wonderful 10 days exploring the Island. There's a small marina just below the Islanders Rest, where you can get fantastic food. We enjoyed lovely crepes from a Frenchman in a kiosk next to Cow strand. There was also a great cafe beyond Silver Strand called North Shore.
