Responsible tourism award winner - Whale Watch West Cork runs responsible whale and dolphin watching tours led by zoologist and conservationist Dr Nic Slocum. All tours depart from Baltimore, Harbour, West Cork on board Voyager- daily between April and November (sea conditions permitting). Each tour takes you around the beautiful islands and headlands of West Cork, stopping at Cape Clear Island affording visitors an insight into the unique lifestyle of the islanders of Roaring Water Bay.

Our overseas arm, Whales Worldwide, runs exclusive wildlife holidays to unique destinations including Baja, Maui, Patagonia and Sri Lanka to watch whales responsibly in their natural habitats. Each tour is personally guided by Nic Slocum with a maximum of ten like-minded guests per holiday.

We are dedicated to providing each of our customers with a safe, comfortable and educational whale and dolphin watching experience. We seek to impart accurate knowledge on the marine mammals and other wildlife we encounter and on the wider issues of marine conservation through informed commentary with special emphasis on the current threats facing these unique animals and their fragile environment. We directly support conservation measures through education and research.

Wow - what an amazing day out on the water with Nic & his team at Whale Watch West Cork today. I went out on this trip with no expectations - I do a lot of surveys looking for cetaceans in uk waters and I very rarely see much, so I presumed my jinx would continue today - not so!... More

Whale watching with Nic in Baltimore West Cork was amazing! Nic was full of interesting information about the whales and dolphins we saw and was happy to answer all our questions and there was a real sense of respect for the animals. It was perfect for kids teenagers and adults, we saw humpback & minke whales, dolphins and seals ...a... More

We went out with Nic in slightly difficult conditions but had a great time. Lots of bird life and despite choppy seas we eventually saw porpoise and dolphin activity. These are really knowledgeable marine ecologists so there is no hassling the animals and everybody learned a lot. I would heartily recommend!

Nic and Brendan run an outstanding operation - small catamaran and beautiful views out to Fastnet rock. On our journey we were mobbed by common dolphins who played with the boat for several miles, great opportunities for photos. Definitely dress warm!

In November 2016 we made an off-season trip to the beautifel south coast of Ireland. The main goal was to go whale watching, something we've always wanted to do, but not at any cost: we wanted to do this in the most responsible and animal friendly way possible. After a quick research we were pleasantly surprised to find out we... More

Baltimore West Cork, wonderful. We were there in July 2016, the sun was shining. In the good company of 2 brothers & their wives. What more could you ask? Well, Nic Slocum was responsible for the icing on the cake. Wonderful trip, no whales but dolphins by the score. Stop off at Cape Clear Island for a cuppa. Back in... More

Look no further experience! Nic is a PRO of the kind and you can realise this from the welcoming, the brief, the debrief and generally from his speech on the subject! He is really passionate with his job and that made our experience a real hunt of whales....although we did not watch any whale from small distance, we notify several... More

Myself and a friend were delighted to have many sightings on our outing with Nick and Brendan. At first we saw dolphins who playfully swam alongside our boat and "surfed" the wake we were creating underwater. They stayed with us for a good hour. After that we saw a couple of Fin and Minke whales. Bring a good camera with... More

This was a well organised, welcoming and informative trip. Nic was a great captain and made us all feel safe and welcome. He educated us all in the art of enjoyable whale watching as we chugged along aboard the Explorer. We had an amazing time and would highly recommend the trip to anyone in West Cork.

Informative, well run and a full day out. we were out for 5 hours in total including about an hour on Clear Island. Saw Fin whales consistently for a couple of hours and huge numbers of dolphins. Brendan and Nic knowledgeable friendly and professional. Possibly a little long for the toddler, so bring some books if have kids.
