Sheep's Head in County Cork, Ireland. Unmissable West Cork coastal scenery. A unique headland peninsula, part of the Wild Atlantic Way route. as gaeilge translation is Rinn Mhuintir Bháire. If you are near Bantry Bay or Dunmanus Bay take a visit here. Popular with walkers, hikers, and featuring a cycle trail. Full of rough walkways, rugged old tracks and narrow... More

We arrived at the trailhead. The restrooms had one open, no other guest services available, closed for the season. However, we could hike. The sign at the trail head said it was 1.5 km. Not sure if that was one way or round trip. We clocked 4 miles round trip. It was moderate with some seriously steep parts. Spectacular vistas.... More

Located over Bantry town, this picnic area has views for miles, looking out to Widdy island, large tanks and the sea. This is located just a few miles out on a very windy quant road. If you are in the area and have not visited, do so. It's free and worth a look. Travel out the road to Drimoleague and... More

We decided to do the lighthouse loop on a beautiful oct day. It was fantastic. We left early, and it was really quiet and peaceful. I don't advise doing this particular walk after wet weather, as it could be really boggy. Plenty other walks to choose from though. There is a toilet block near the lighthouse.

Have had many lovely holidays on the Sheep's Head Peninsula. I returned from the most recent last Saturday. We rented a house in Kilcrohane and spent a super week of walking and birdwatching.

Probably less known and less explored than other parts of south-west, amazing landscape and coastal views. Plenty to do and see. We based ourselves in Bantry and everywhere we wanted to go was no more than an hour and a half away.

We were so impressed by the excellent work to signpost scrawny trails across rough terrain for walking clubs and amateurs alike. Views are really special, lots of walking clubs present and the later walk down to the little lighthouse and around will hopefully not leave you needing CPR

Enjoyed a well earned coffee after a rather blustery walk - fantastic scenery throughout so well worth it.

Great drive, take it slow and you may have to give way at times to oncoming traffic as you get closer to the lighthouse. Take a thick, wind resistant jacket. It can get very blowy! 2 km walk at the end car park to the lighthouse. The views along the drive are stunning!!

Spent part of a day this October walking/hiking 10kms at the very end, by the lighthouse, of this gorgeous peninsula! It is absolutely beautiful and well worth the visit! Stunning views of the ocean over fantastic drop off cliffs, great paths and lovely scenery! I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a lovely hike. We stayed in the... More
