We always travel early in the year before tourist season so the water is generally too cold unless you are in a wet-suite, but there are great pubs and adventure to be found on the Beara if you get out and explore.

Alllihies Beach was very windy and cold at the tip of the Beara Peninsula. It had a lovely little cafe and Mining Museum which my hisband thought was worth visiting.

Turned out to be a beautiful day so we decided to stay for the day! Beautiful unspoilt safe beach with toilet and water facilities nearby. Village is 2 mins by car and local shop provided us with essentials for picnic although Not the best stocked!

Sat in the shelter amongst the rocks on a wildly windy but sunny day and listened to the Atlantic breakers. An end of the world feelinga and a really beautiful spot.

Really liked this beach, lovely for swimming. Not actual sand, something to do with the old copper mines, while it feels a bit tougher it doesn't stick like sand which is a major bonus. There is a small river on one side of the strand...More

One of the many beautiful beach stops on the Beara Peninsula which is amazing in natural beauty! After viewing the mines from above, the drive down to the beach was fabulous. It is very quiet here which is nice with no tourists and great for...More
