This Heritage Centre is, indeed, a place not to miss, as others have said, but I cannot call it an attraction as that does not do justice to one of the subjects - the development of the potato famine and its impact on South and...More

We knew little about the devastation of the Potato Famine but found the Heritage Centre an excellent source of information. Great exhibits, some accompanied by headphones for audio presentation, gave a fairly complete description of the horrific conditions in Ireland at the time of the...More

The so-called "Potato Famine" aka "The Hunger" profoundly affected the Irish people. Make time to visit the Heritage Center and learn about this period of Irish history. I would normally avoid places like this, but the Heritage Center is well-designed and full of interesting information...More

The attendant kindly gave our group a deeply informative lecture, supplementing the already complete displays and collection of books. Vital knowledge for anyone having an interest in the island.

The well presented exhibition tells the devastating famine story, staff very knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. Not to be missed if you're in the West Cork area. Help also available with tracing family history

The famine exhibition is first class, and we were deeply moved by the stories it told. Some interactive exhibits, and headphones at separate stations.

We had visited once before but only briefly. This time we spent enough time to look at all the exhibits and recordings. It's a sobering place which shows off the truth of a very hard time when so many people died, the Famine. The team...More

Dear Innerworldofmyown, Sincere thanks for your lovely review. Thank you too for taking the time to take in our exhibitions and to follow the app around the town. It was, indeed, a very sad time but an era that had a huge impact on Ireland...More

It's small but has a wealth of information. The museum is more reading and listening to accounts of what happened during the famine in the 1840's and 1850's. It was a very emotional experience. I had been told stories but I don't think I really...More

Dear Adventurer, Thank you so much for your kind review. And it's particularly poignant that your ancestors left Ireland during this terrible time. They were brave people and you honour their memory by seeking out their story. And it was an absolutely tragic one. We're...More
