After a full day of driving the Ring of Kerry we stopped here for a bit of a stretch, and because I absolutely love roadside attractions and small museums. We were the only ones visiting and it was great to have the place to ourselves as we explored. The site gives a good overview of life in Western Ireland before... More

Stopped off at this village on our coach tour, very nice and informative about how people used to live in the past in Ireland. There are a few animals to see and original houses. You can go to the inn next door afterwards for an Irish coffee.

Our tour of the Ring of Kerry stopped at the Kerry Bog Village, a cluster of about eight restored 18th and 19th Century cottages and several others, called “famine houses,” because they’d been abandoned during the potato famine and only the rock walls were standing. The restored cottages demonstrated the differences in living standard between a common laborer and someone... More

A most enjoyable visit to The Kerry Bog Village and Red Fox Inn Glenbeigh with Friends from Kerry and London today left us feeling happy to have visited. On entry you will see the lovely IrishWolfhounds famous for being the world's tallest dog. We preceeded to view all the lovely cottages which are beautifully furnished TheTurf Cutters dwelling The Old... More

We love history, especially of things we never learned in U.S. schools, so this museum of an 18th/19th century village in the bog country of County Kerry, Ireland, was our "cup o' tea". Laid out very well with lots of information, best to visit when the weather is good since there is outdoor walking from 1 structure to the next.... More

We stopped here as part of an organised coach trip and although some people think half an hour is enough I would rather have had longer so I could really be mentally taken back and experience the devastating effects the potato famine had on the people of Ireland all those years ago!! There are reconstructed cottages of all levels of... More

This was our first stop on the ring of Kerry, and how cute it was! Cheap admission, and lots of information on local culture! Kids would love this place, and I thoroughly enjoyed how well it was recreated. There was an amazing receptionist at the desk! She was young and I think she was blonde- but she stood out amongst... The care and detail given to the construction of this "living" museum is an eye-opening experience. I'd heard of the Potato Famine but information within the village really brought home how utterly devastating it was. The thatched cottages & blacksmiths' forge are furnished with so many items of this era that, although the time given for seeing it all is... More

Start with a drink in The Fox especially an Irish coffee and drink in the atmosphere. Then visit the Bog House Museum (entry fee extra). Various houses set out like it was almost those years ago plus farm equipment, live horses and Wolfhound. Visit the shop for soverniers.

Fairly decent replica village depicting bog life of the past. Times were tough indeed. Sad story about the need to burn bog for fuel. The Irish have endured a lot to get where they are today. Impressive story. Well done and worth a quick visit.
