As other people have written this is more a ruin than a fort but it is an easy walk and there is a great view of the harbor. If you can take a walk to the beach right by it is very pretty view as...More

The ruins are not huge or notable like other ones nearby, but they do make a lovely stop and are a pretty addition to a photo of Kinsale Harbor.

The six kilometer round trip walk is the perfect counter part to all of the eating one does in Kinsale. We did this walk on each of our two stays and really enjoy the history and the beautiful views from the hill tops.

The old fort ruin is just that a ruin, it’s a steep uphill walk and there are no views of Kinsale from the stone ruin but as you walk up and around. The Charles Fort is by far the most imposing with great views and...More

We'd already visited the very well preserved Charles Fort across the water, and now we were starting our day here at James Fort. You need to park down a ways and walk up to it, but it's an easy walk. The ruins are interesting to...More

Its a ruined fort up on a hill. Easy walk from the beach. There are many like this in Ireland. I would recommend if you are at the beach, but would prefer the walk the other way to Charles Fort if you were in the...More

If you go to see this Fort be aware that you have to walk up unpaved, muddy inclines to get to it. If you have any issues with mobility I would not recommend going to see the Fort. Once you get up to the fort,it...More
