A busy beach over the weekend with dog walkers and a couple of trotters. The tide goes out a long way and you can walk for a good hour in beautiful surroundings. Glorious on a winters day.

I visited the beach on a morning in November and it was cold but sunny. A beautiful beach with miles and miles of strand stretching out before your eyes.

We spent an hour walking along the Velvet Strand at Portmarnock, however we only covered a fraction of it. It's great for walking on, as the sand is firm and easy to walk on.

It was cold and windy and yet the sun was out and it was such a lovely day, especially for the kids to walk on the sand and collect shells and stones. Plenty of kids, people with their dogs. it was just beautiful!

Wide, long and beautiful! We saw many people with dogs. Great shells, worth the trip. Great views and people we met were super friendly.

You can access from the Portmarnick Hotel. The beach is lovely and a fabulous walk especially on a good weather day. It can be busy but it's just lovely.
