Overview
More
Derreen is a woodland garden that has a selection of narrow paths leading to the sea. You can choose a short stroll of about 40 minutes or take all day discovering the 8 miles of paths. Many of the plants were brought back from the Himalayas by the Victorian plant hunters. There is a cafe selling lunch or a selection of delicious hand made cakes during the summer months.

Beautiful gardens. I paid 7 Euros for entrance (in a trust box), picked up a map for a quiet walk. The gardens are lush and gorgeous -- eventually stopped taking pictures because there was so much to see. Definitely stop and walk through these gardens...More

Having recently come from Glengarriff Bamboo Park we were really disappointed by the expensive entry fee into the park. Compare €10 for three to €16.50 - for a walk. But it is a nice place for a walk and it is great to be able...More

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and I'm sorry you found it expensive. As I am sure you can appreciate the upkeep on a garden that size is quite substantial. It is gorgeous on a sunny day, please come back again soon and I hope...More

We came on a dreary but warm November day so there was little in bloom to judge it as a Garden but the trees are magnificent- many varieties totally new to me. There are 60 acres in which to roam with beautiful views across the...More

I’m so glad you enjoyed your visit. I’m sorry you found it expensive. As I’m sure you imagine the upkeep is fairly extensive. We have quite a few rare plants which I’m glad you appreciated. Come again.

The garden has some great views and lovely walks. It's quite sheltered so it's a runner even if the weather's a bit inclement.

We visited the Derreen garden end of oktober, no one there, only nature and romanitc scenery. Sounds of birds, and a lot of Rhododrendon species, quite amazing actually. A must for Botanical Fanats and Romantic Souls!

We visited Derreen Gardens in May 2017. They're probably better visited in March/April, when the rhodendrons are in flower, but it's worth a visit any time. Lovely walks & a very charming little cafe run by friendly & helpful people.

Much of the produce used in the cafe is grown in the gardens, and, although not cheap, is well-presented and tasty.
