Lots of beautiful sights here. I love this area. Watch out for the sheep on the road. They don't seem to watch out for cars. And if you hit one you have to buy it!

We are staying in Kenmare and I was trying to decide between Ring of Kerry, Beara and Slea Road drive in Dingle. Finally decided to do part of Beara going down to the Healy Pass and returning to the beginning. It was one of the most amazing and beautiful drives we've ever taken. Spectacular sites. Sheep. Incredible vistas. Do not... More

Although it can be a driving challenge with tight twists and turns and sheep "owning" parts of the road, this is a great alternative to the long ring of Kerry. This has all the things you would expect from the pics of Ireland; great bright green landscapes, ocean views, and, of course , the sheep.

We walked a few hours on the Beara way walk and back one day. The scenery is so beautiful, I could go on forever and forever. Don't forget to bring a small lunchpack and proper shoes.

Beautiful island to explore away from the tourist and tour buses. Cute towns to stop and explore. So much better than Ring of Kerry.

Good weather , though a little tricky getting oriented on the map. Off road and at the higher levels the trail was very wet, boots needed. No one else out , beautiful silent valleys and invigorating vistas over mountains lakes and the sea

At the B&B's that we stay ed we talked about where we were going in Ireland and all described the pennisula's of the west coast in this fashion...Ring of Kerry is commercialized, Dingle is scenic and Beara is natural. We took the Beara trip as we had a car (only saw 2 buses on the road) and it took all... More
