We decided to visit here purely for a walk around the vast garden. On further inspection there is so much to do and we will revisit in the summer with our grandchildren(miniature railway; dolls house; teddy bear collection; boats; play areas; picnic areas - so much interest) Having said all this we had a marvellous time exploring the lovely manicured... A walk through the gardens, even if the weather is not that bright, is very relaxing. If possible, a visit to the Hall is highly recommended - you will be provided a lot of information about its history and the wheres and whys. Newby Hall and estate is a lived-in family home.

Newby Hall is quite unusual in that it is not a stuffy country house suitable only for the more mature visitor; it has lots of different attractions for all the family. The house and gardens are very nice in themselves but when you add in a remarkable dolls house collection, Gyles Brandreth's teddy bear collection, play areas, a train, boats... More

We were recommended to visit Newby Hall by the owner of Hornseys, a shop in Ripon that also manages the shop at Newby Hall. It far exceeded my expectations. The gardens and grounds are tremendous, with loads of areas to see and explore. The water and adventure playgrounds with pedalos are terrific for children. There's a great picnic area near... More

The gardens are lovely, lots to see at different times of year. Plenty for the kids to play on, the water area is fun in the summer, but it does get busy. The small train for the kids is fun, but an additional charge.

We opted to visit Newby Hall as a Sunday treat recently, thinking that we would enjoy an interesting sunny afternoon pastime. But the range of interests and events it offers was astoundingly! Starting with a delicious and reasonably priced nourishing lunch before our tour of the wonderful dolls houses; new knowledge gained from the sculpture exhibition and entertaining visit to... More

My wife and I visited in September 2015 and wanted to see more of the gardens, so returned this year. The restaurants menu was not as good as last year but the food was good and a reasonable price. We enjoyed exploring the gardens with its different areas blending from one to another. A visit slightly earlier in the year... More

We visited with our Daughter and two grandchildren and had a picnic in the grounds before we went in. The gardens are beautiful with lots of flowers and colour and well maintained. There is so much to see and do and yet very relaxing. The children enjoyed the huge playground which included pedal boats, water feature, flying fox and we... More

The house is stunning, with the most beautiful Robert Adam interiors and wonderful furniture. Extremely enthusiastic room guides, who do a great job of explaining the history of the house and the family. The gardens are simply superb, the long herbaceous border looking great even in late September - I'd love to see it in June / July - Sylvia's... More

I used to love going to newby hall on school trips when I was at primary school. Having not been in about 20 years, I decided to go for a day out with my 11 month old and his grandparents and there was plenty to do. He loved the train ride and the water play area (revamped since I used... More
