As an ex matelot living in Plymouth back in the 70s, this became my favourite pub ever. It was surrounded by overgrown vegetation and we sat on beer barrels in the ''garden''... but... but... a proper pub. No music or slot machines, just a welcoming...More

First came here as a kid in the 1970s, was a great 'real' pub then and still is now. Have some lovely memories of the 'Riser' and need to go back agin soon. Well worth a visit!

Love this place, proper local pub, but also great place to visit. Awesome landlord and landlady with friendly staff.

Fantastic place, been visiting for nearly 40 years! Seen a lot of changes although it has remained in the same family all that time. It has been extended and updated but kept it's great character. Real ales and events. Always be my favourite.

Easy going small unspoilt village pub in Botus Fleming. Gradually but sensitively redecorated and brightened up but nothing that spoils anything. Been half a dozen times but always felt welcome and comfortable.

I understand that until half a dozen years ago it was a bit run down but all the more authentic and characterful for that. When I came here during the spring it had been ticked up a good deal but still felt right. It's a...More
