Fantastic place, been visiting for nearly 40 years! Seen a lot of changes although it has remained in the same family all that time. It has been extended and updated but kept it's great character. Real ales and events. Always be my favourite.

I know they do no weekday lunchtimes because there's no passing trade but Saturday's and Sunday's are different and although they do no meals this remains a lovely friendly pub with Sky sport in one bar, a good well kept selection of beers and a...More

Been calling in to the riser a bit lately and can honestly say it is the best pub around! It is warm and welcoming and the landlord and lady are excellent hosts! The bar is superbly stocked with high quality ale the speciality. The place...More

I used to think it didn't matter but the more time I have spent in here the more it seems that some basic old fashioned pub food which takes no effort to put together would make a difference and help balance the succession of well...More

Easy going small unspoilt village pub in Botus Fleming. Gradually but sensitively redecorated and brightened up but nothing that spoils anything. Been half a dozen times but always felt welcome and comfortable.

I understand that until half a dozen years ago it was a bit run down but all the more authentic and characterful for that. When I came here during the spring it had been ticked up a good deal but still felt right. It's a...More

Not sure about the last review. May have confused the location. This place doesn't do food. Hasn't in recent memory. It is however a lovely well conducted and convivial village pub. Slightly renovated but not losing its essential character. We come here maybe every other...More

Pleased it's listed. No pretentions. A well liked pub. Not much if any tourist trade. Good to sit outside but I like the smaller bar. Friendly unpushy hospitable service.

I am very pleased that this place has been added to Tripadvisor as an attraction. I firmly regard this as one of the most authentic welcoming and unspoilt small village rural pubs, I have known. It seems to do no advertising. Doesn't have irritating repetitive...More
