Husband and I spotted a couple of bargains in here last Saturday but didn’t buy . Wished we had so I rang the the owner who told me they had still got them and he’d gladly reserve them. Popped up today(sunday) and he very carefully wrapped them up for me. Next time we’re in Matlock we will definitely pop in again. It’s a proper Aladdins Cave.…

Visited Matlock and popped into this antique shop as it had some lovely furniture outside. There were other pieces of furniture inside as well as cabinets along the wall with small items to view. Just one floor and it is a bit of a squeeze as they do have a lot of things in the space. Just thought the cabinets were a little dark but otherwise an interesting place to visit.…

Wanted to look in his shop at 4.45pm (sign said he closed at 5pm). The proprietor came out of the shop saying he was closed; we said we had a 'crowd' coming in and he went into a tirade, saying he was 'self employed, worked seven days a week' and that 'it didn't look like we had bought much anyway ' (inferring we were time wasters), locked the door and run off with a rude comment over his shoulder towards us. Sorry you didn't get a chance to look around my lovely shop .My hundreds of satisfied regular customers will testify to the quality of service they receive . Maybe you should take a moment to reflect on your own attitude and manners you approached my door with as I was closing and you may realise why I reacted to you in such a negative manner. As always there are 2 sides to every story.thank you

Antique shops are a magnet for me when traveling. I came to Matlock to visit the large antique mall on Dale Road, and in doing so, stumbled across Quirky Antiques on the opposite side of the road. Although a small shop, there was surprisingly plenty of items of interest, ranging from furniture to silver, porcelain and jewelry. I did not have to sort through a lot of junk to come across quality items, most with some age. They are nicely displayed, some in cases rented by other dealers. There are plenty of smaller items, to attract the tourist. The owner was friendly, without being intrusive, and I found him most helpful in advising on individual items. He was willing to examine them in detail to provide more information about age and origin. Even if you just like to browse, there is plenty to see and no pressure to purchase. This is obviously not the place to bring young children, unless the are very well behaved. The prices seemed more reasonable than many other antique shops in other locations I had visited in England.…
