A garden tour with the senior gardener started the day well - he was very knowledgeable and offered plenty of technical detail. I especially liked that, at least today, staff in each room actively offered information as you toured. I liked too that the static information, that you read as you wander, was set out creatively e.g on scrolls and... More

This was my favourite old house that we visited. I love Jane Eyre and it has been used more than once for the movies/tv series. Loved the fire going in the hall, It was just fantastic.

Absolutely stunning grounds and setting, with beautiful views. The house is gorgeous inside, and I loved the long hall, so airy! We were blessed with a lovely sunny day so the gardens were appreciated to their fullest! One of my favourite halls to visit.

A visit to Derbyshire is not complete without a visit to this historic family home. It is real step back in time, full of atmosphere, preserved, but authentic and Steeped in history.

For our 25th Wedding Anniversary we decide to plan a Princess Bride Trip, many thanks to the book "As You Wish" that made locations easier to find. Haddon Hall, is just a beautiful estate. We spent about 4 hours here, and if it wasn't for us catching a train, we would have stayed longer. Everyone there is more than excited... More

We visited Haddon Hall on a very cold, grey October morning and were pleasantly surprised by the fact that they had lit the massive open fire which not only gave us the opportunity to warm ourselves but also added wonderful atmosphere to this beautiful historic building. Haddon Hall was a fascinating place, where history really came to life, like no... More

A very interesting place to visit, ( would be better in the summer. ) The place is let down by a poor cafe. It is listed as closing at 4pm, but we were told at 3.15 that is was closed already and there was no hot food available, but we could have a drink. only one gluten free cake available.... More

Four seniors visited on a Monday, which was a good choice as the hall was fairly quiet. The building was beautifully dressed with traditional Christmas decorations and wonderful open fires gave a real sense of how living must have been many years ago. The conservation of this wonderful building must be very difficult and expensive, but all renovation has been... More

What a delightful place this is. So welcoming and cosy All the fires were lit and I could have moved into the Parlour for Christmas! Staff not in your face, and when you did ask questions they knew the answers and told you a lot of the history of the Hall. Visited big brothers place, Belvoir Castle, last year, and... More

We visit Haddon every year - and this year is the first time that I have felt disappointed. The whiole place seemed to be linked to Shakespeare - apparently the Lady of the house is keen to establish a link with William Shakespeare. I have always looked forward to the roaring fires, the glitter, the Christmas trees - that is... More
