Where else in this country that you can visit a transport museum arriving and departing in a tram on the public highway? Birkenhead has it all! Being a Transport Historian and a volunteer member of another transport museum, I occasionally do some crazy things!! Like 5hrs 32mins train journey up from East Anglia, 3hrs 40mins in the museum and tramway,... More

Take advantage of the Tram ride from the station - only £1. It has even more buses than trains - and a model railway. Cost - a donation if you want. The Grandaughter really got involved with the iSpy trail. Also amazing at nearly 7 she has never been upstairs on a bus - dont have them where she lives,... More

Went here on Saturday for their Easter Trail and pleasantly surprised. Would advise a trip on the old tram which is good value at £2 and the museum itself is full of old memorabilia. It's only open for 4 hours on Saturday and Sundays but all in you can do it in 90 mins so that's fine. Nice little place... More

We have a toddler obsessed with everything transport related. We have all visited before and found it to be a great little afternoon out, this time he even went on the tram which made his day. Lots of things to explore and see, one firm favourite is the model railway and best of all it's free (small fee for the... More

We took the ferry across the river and stopped to see the uBoat experience but unfortunately the automatic doors were broken so we could not visit the actual submarine. We went out to the car park and were approached by a tram driver. He told us that for £2 we could get a return ride on the tram and visit... More

Great place for those interested in old vehicles, trams and buses. You can travel on the tram along the waterfront looking out onto the amazingly beautiful Liverpool pier head waterfront.

we visited Wirral Transport Museum and found the volunteers there very friendly, the old shop fronts were interesting, the model railway superb, the buses with their histories very absorbing. The selection of Trams stimulating especially showing the rebuilding of the Warrington Tram. And then the tram ride ride over a mile of track and ending at Woodhead Ferry and the... More

We went to this on the tram from the nearby frost fair. Loved the tram rides. Hadn't realised that some trams had an upstairs. Can see so much more from upstairs. The museum was good. However we were with a 2 year old and although she showed interest in some of it, at that age most children do not have... More

We went to the tram museum, me and my 12 year old. It was our fist trip to the museum The place is only the size of a small warehouse but well worth a visit. It's packed from floor to ceiling with old trams and some classic beautifully restored motorbikes well worth a look. There is a medium sized table... More
