Lovely Georgian square

Lovely Georgian square, worth a stroll around if you like architecture. The gardens in the centre are well kept too.

The most grade 1 listed buildings in one place outside London. Doesn't take long to walk around the square but it is worth the time. Beautiful buildings around a grand square. Town Hall on 1 side looks splendid. Glad traffic has been limited. A great location of you like architecture

Hamilton Square was completed in 1844 and is now a Conservation Area, containing Grade 1 Listed Buildings. It's the largest Georgian / Victorian Square outside London. My walk around the square and through the gardens was midweek during the afternoon, the best time to visit! Birkenhead Town Hall faces into the Square facing the Cenotaph. In the Centre of the... Hamilton square is a lovely peaceful place to stroll around or sit and relax. Gorgeous Georgian architecture, fabulous town hall. One of Birkenheads hidden gems.

An astonishing find in the middle of the post-industrial wasteland that is Birkenhead. A perfectly preserved Georgian square that looks as if it has been airlifted out of Edinburgh and dropped on the banks of the Mersey. A fine town hall of later vintage provides the jewel in the crown (even better are the law courts round the back). Alas... More

This is a must for lovers of Architecture. A very well presented square and garden area with the Town Hall on one side. It's just an example of what Birkenhead once was. You can arrive here by Train and it's just a stones throw away. The Town centre is just a few minutes walk away, but give that a miss.... More

This is a "must see" park square in Birkenhead. Tucked away yet only a few minutes walk from the shopping centre. Beautifully laid out with stunning memorials and the whole area is beautifully kept and clean and the historic town houses surrounding are picture perfect. Tip ..... This is next to Hamilton Square Merseyrail Station and combine with a visit... More

Sadly as the retail centre of Birkenhead moved so Hamilton Square has found itself out on a bit of a limb. Its a beautiful square of lovely buildings with a pleasant small park in the centre but it does have an air of neglect about it. I, m sure architecturally it rivals both Bath and York but then there is... More

Birkenhead is a pretty dull place in the main, but Hamilton Square is an exception. This attractive space is surrounded by immaculately maintained Georgian terraces and is more redolent of Bath than a pretty downmarket northern town. Worth a look.

This square is really lovely but often missed by visitors . The building surrounding the square are impressive and there are some small cares etc to grad a drink and bite to eat. The center of the square has a pleasant green area and an impressive war memorial.
