Small museum plenty of local history and free to enter. There is a wee play area for kids which is well used and worth a visit.

This museum tells a fascinating story of the turbulant history of Carrickfergus from the times of stone axes and hand to hand battles right through to the present day. It has some great displays to keep the whole family interested. Allow at least two hours

It just a pity that the powers to be ( council ) do not appear to realise what great visitor assets this little seaside town has which also forms part of the famous Causeway Coastal route. Shopping needs a massive push, with shops designed to cater for the tourist and locals. Last year around 2 million visited our shores (... More

I call in here often, they put on different exhibitions that are often very interesting. Sometimes there are two displays at once. I found a show about WWI Q ships last year very surprising; it was an extraordinary, alarming tale of very brave sailors inviting attack from submarines. They do historical and photography displays. I enjoyed a selection of historical... More

Called in with our guests from Australia they found the exhibits very interesting, not too crowded, surprised so few people in that day. Things for all ages to do and look at, well worth a visit not just on a rainy day.

Called in a couple of times to look at the Views of Historical Carrickfergus show of paintings by R.J. Bunting, 1917 – 1927. Technically a few had faults, like all the buildings tilting to the left. That’s irrelevant. It was great to see so many street views from a century ago, including some lost buildings like the Unitarian Church. In... More

I attended the opening of the Carrick Art Club show here tonight. The main gallery is given over to some historical pictures, so the contemporary are is in the exhibition space further along. There were many different pictures in different paint media, oils, pen and ink, watercolours, and more. Inside ten minutes Magi Delahey's seascape 'Cause Stones Rock' was sold.... More

We had several hours before our bus would come through again and we found this museum by accident. It was very interesting, small but packed with great relics! I enjoyed it as much as the castle.

Step back in time in this small exhibit. Only a short time needed to take it all in but well worth a visit should you be in Carrickfergus.
