Carreg Cennen is a "Welsh" castle (as opposed to being an "English" castle in Wales, such as Harlech or Conwy), relatively small, remote and dramatic. The climb up isn't strenuous in my view, but you might not fancy it with a pram and it's surely...More

Beautiful scienery but you have to be quite fit to walk up the hill to the castle, once on the top you could see Carmarthenshire but it was a bit dull when we went.

After an interesting drive along a steep & very narrow road, with sheep, goats & cows crossing, we arrived at the castle, which was the first of three we were visiting in the area. This was the only one with an entrance fee, the other...More

This partial ruin is situated at the top of a steep hill, but it's worth the climb to see the views from there. The valleys below with their fields and streams, the blue sky, even the flocks of sheep and the cattle, all make for...More

A fantastic castle with great views. Good source of information and a great base for walks. The food was also very good with a good choice for vegetarians. Ample parking but expect some steep climbs.

After several visits to the area when the weather wasn’t suitable for a visit to the castle, this time we managed it. It is quite a steep walk up to the castle, but if you stop frequently to take in the view it is fine...More

Based around a working farm, the castle is only a few miles from Llandeilo, up some country lanes, but well worth the effort. Reception is in the converted barn which serves as cafe and shop. Althpugh loos in car park were locked, there are loos...More

Sorry I’m only human. After a drive to see a CADW property I expect to be able to access loos or be directed to nearby facilities. No. Dour cafe staff and very begrudging of my use of the loo! The lovely CADW representative, who took...More
