We've been here several times, approaching it from several different ways, many slightly more difficult and more spectacular than the traditional route from Llandeilo. Look for the hidden tunnel when you get there (and take a good big beam torch or two with you).
First I will say I didn’t actually go into the castle. We were in the area and decided to stop off to take the dog for a walk.
There is a well marked path that goes around the castle and takes about an hour.

It's a really nice place with amazing views. Even on a cloudy day the views from the castle were stunning. There's also a good sized cave walk if you remember to bring something to light your way. Wear proper hikers (or at least solid shoes)...More
