What a great setting. Ayot St Lawrence is one of my favourite locations. I’ve been coming here since I was 16. It’s so peaceful and tranquil and such a lovely setting

Lots of interesting displays in the house regarding the life and times of GBS. Very pretty gardens and you can see where he sat in the garden to write. One for adults rather than young children but a very interesting slice of literature history

Spent a pleasant afternoon at GBS home and garden. The guides were both pleasant and knowledgeable. The house is a time capsule from 1950, just as Shaw left it. The children (aged 10 & 12) were kept interested in the artifacts including his Oscar and...More

One of very few National Trust properties in the locality, this one is worth a visit to learn how George Bernard Shaw lived and worked. It's not very grand but it's as peaceful reminder of another era.

On a summers day there are few local places to beat this quiet corner of Hertfordshire. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity which helped one of our well known writers pen for the genrations to come.

We visited on a windy autumn afternoon, the roads on approach in some places were single track with passing places, so appropriate speed advisable. The Shaw's, George and Charlotte, rented the main house for fourteen years prior to buying it outright, by this time George...More

Not a grand place, very domestic home of the play-write and his wife, with large and very nice gardens. The staff were welcoming and helpful and encouraged us to picnic in the gardens. Small shop and kiosk. While you are there do not miss the...More
