Took a quick ride to Almonte today to do the Riverwalk. Think peaceful and your there. It’s a board walk along the Mississippi River to two waterfalls. It’s wonderful and well done! A fountain and the calming sounds of water await you. You can even...More

The Riverwalk took us only about 10 minutes and runs starting from behind the Town Hall, to just beside the Heirloom restaurant (this is basically paralleling the length of the downtown area). The wooden boardwalks were impressive and took full advantage of the river views,...More

Shirt but pleasant walk after an evening dinner at Heirloom . The Falls made a beautiful back drop for family photos and the industrial condos overlooking the Falls made us all envious of their wonderful views. Walk was worth doing while visiting Almonte.

Not overly long, just nice length to walk. There is climbing involved, or going down wooden stairs. You get a really good view of the river, the hydro dam and the 'falls', as well as the old buildings converted into condos. We prefer to start...More

Right in the centre of this lovely little town there's a little walking path right alongside the waterfront. So far it spans from bridge to bridge with your choice of ice cream or something from the chip wagon at one end. Barley Mow's restaurant is...More

Seeing the water roll down as you stroll along the path was a relaxing yet exhilarating experience. Between trees, shops and old buildings is this beautiful walking trail that you must experience first hand.

The riverwalk gives you the opportunity to view the water and surrounding historical buildings. It is very safe to walk on and easily accessible from the parking lot.

As part of my visit to Almonte, I did the (short) Riverwalk using a self-guide brochure. The falls were pretty impressive, but there is some construction around the area which marred the view a bit.
