Parked in the smaller Blubberhouses carpark, walked to the dam and luckily the ice cream van was selling hot drinks, we'll done you genius! Walked round the other side and back to the car. Beautiful weather made it a really enjoyable day.

This is a great scenic area so close to the city of Leeds. We come here often but on this occasion we parked at another of the reservoirs - Lindley Wood and had a pleasant walk up the River Washburn to Swinsty and we were...More

Beautiful area to visit with easy, flat walking. Swinsty car park enjoys picnic tables near the water with Fewston car park having facilities and Yorkshire Dales Ice Cream Van which serves hot drinks - at least today it did! Plenty of benches around the route...More

I would just like to warn visitors of the irresponsible dog owners that use Swinsty to allow there dogs to roam free around the reservoir. Although there are many signs insisting that dogs should be on short leads, I think that a lot of dog...More

Lovely place for an afternoon stroll with the dog, but it can get very busy. Best time to visit is very early morning or late evening.

Depends on your pace. Anywhere between an hour and a half and three hours. If you park at the Yorkshire Water car park between the two you can stop or finish half way round if you feel like it.

Yes. Swinsty is identified as an easy access reservoir on the Yorkshire Water website. Personally, I would use the Swinsty Stack car park at the Fewston end as that has better parking and also has facilities.
