If you enjoy easy walking on well marked routes you cannot do better than visit the Yorkshire Water website and download the excellent walks they recommend. Swinsty is just one of many, and they are all in stunningly beautiful Yorkshire Dales locations

I walk around Swinsty pretty much once a month. It's free, its clean and level, and the view across the reservoir is available for most of the walk. If you are feeling more energetic (Swinsty is only about 3 miles), continue around Fewston just upstream...More

Walked round this reservoir recently, with friends and two Black Labradors, and had a great time. The walking is easy- just over three miles- with well-maintained footpaths, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Thoroughly recommended

This is a walk I try to do every day. It's really pleasant to walk with lots of birds and ever changing scenery. Fairly gently 3 mile walk which is accessible for prams and probably powered wheelchairs.

This is a nice easy walk of about three miles. Is on reasonable pathways so okay to go around with young children. Can get busy put has a couple of car parks one of which has a toilet.

Depends on your pace. Anywhere between an hour and a half and three hours. If you park at the Yorkshire Water car park between the two you can stop or finish half way round if you feel like it.
