This is a lovely place to visit for a meal or even just a drink, beautiful location, tasty food, good portion sizes and reasonable pricing! I have regular visitors from the UK and I always make a point to take them for a meal at the Pig and Whistle! My only complaint would be that the last time I visited... More

Was looking forward to this pub but was very disappointed. Small range of beer and food was well below average. Ordered Guinness steak pie floater. They obviously have no idea what a pie floater is. A pie floater is green pea soup with the pie floating in it. What we got was a pot pie that was over cooked and... More

We had a lovely meal this evening. The pumpkin soup was nice, the pork sausages and mash were good and the pork belly was delicious. All of the meals were homely and comfort food. They were generous serves and nice and hot. The co owner welcomed us and made us feel welcome right from sitting us down. The service was... More

The location of this tavern is its best feature.if you are visiting the area in the summer the beer garden is the perfect spot to stop for some refreshments. The garden is safe for children to run around and has lots of seating. However I would skip on eating here.we have given the food 2 chances here and won't be... More

Luckily we didn't arrive in the peak time, our meals arrived promptly, fairly good size and were tasty. Now... Try ordering dessert or coffee afterwards. You think this would be easy, nope Over 30 mins to get a chocolate brownie and have asked twice where are these desserts? "Yep we'll get them now" 15 mins later we are still waiting.... More

Food below average, and service average. Toilets messy. Waited too long due to a 'technical issue'. Seems there are two profiles on trip advisor for this place, maybe in an effort to cover up the bad reviews on the other one. Be warned. Probably a nice place to have a drink, but avoid until they sort everything else out.

Dear Anton, thank you for taking the greatest effort to provide this review. We have been working hard to provide good food and services by not increasing the pricing of our meals which is between $25-40pp including best quality of local beer and wine; one should know that the Main Ridge/Red Hill areas are in top location and barely other... Was trying to find decent food other than fish and chips and found this restaurant. Slightly off course from the city and arthur's seat, but very well worth it. Foods bloody good. The special of the day that day was salmon and it was superb. Chicken pie was just heartwarming and the garlic and cheese bread is just so good... More

If you are visiting the wineries up around Main Ridge and Red Hill a good cheaper alternative to the pricey winerys is the Pig and Whistle. In Summer the alfresco area outside is a great place to be and there is plenty of room for the kids to run around so bring a ball or something for them as there... More

We had the pleasure of eating lunch at this lovely Tavern, the Staff were very friendly, the wine was good, the food was great, the prices fair, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings ...great spot to stop if you are looking for something a bit more casual than the wonderful winery restaurants
