We visited this cemetery on October 18th. In front of the cemetery there is a parking lot, where you also can find an information board about the history of this German War Cemetery. Inside on the far left side there are the restrooms. It is a well maintained cemetery and in the autumn the colors are very nice and you... More

If you are in Normandy and are going to visit the WW2 sites and / or are going to the US cemetery - stop here first. This is an austere reminder of the war, without the over-the-top patriotism of the US cemetery. You need to see them both.

We decided to come here after seeing the American cemetry and seeing the contrast between the two war cemetrys was increadible. It is deffinetly worth visiting here no matter how interesting you find this sort of stuff, it is deffinetly a must see. Remembering all of these people who died in such horrible ways is really important.

This cemetery should not be missed during your trip. If you are able to research some of the individuals buried here before you go, it will provide you additional insight as you visit the cemetery.

Compared to the American Cemetery, this one strikes you as darker and subdued. Just the dark stones and the number of graves makes you think of the losses on both sides of the war.

Very sad as war is sad and takes the lives of the young. Most the the ages of the occupants of this place were around 18-25 years old. You get to realize that they where dragged into something and would have rather been somewhere else, like skying in the Alps with a pretty girl......an easy stop as its on highway 13 of... More

I think it's important to visit here too as you get to see something very different. It's easy to forget that there were a lot of Germans who were not interested in fighting but we're made too. Whilst beautiful it's a very sad place, compared to the American cemetery it's worlds apart. I feel I can say this in a... More

If you are visiting the Allied war cemeteries in Normandy it is really worthwhile to visit this German Cemetery if just to compare the differences between the American, Commenwealth and German burial sites, very interesting and moving.

Sue B, your xenophobia against the USA notwithstanding, there is nothing jingoistic about the Normandy American cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer or Ranville or the many other American, British and Canadian cemeteries. If you see celebration at any of these sites, you are terribly misguided. Your derogatory comments toward the United States are disgraceful, given the fact that your ability to say... More

As the French say at the entrance, many of these soldiers were fighting because they had no choice. The Cemetary is an important part of WWII history. It is very beautiful.
