Lago di Ledro is probably the cleanest lake in Trentino. Very quiet, perfect to go around with a bicycle. It's just 10km from lake Garda and it is surrounded by green mountains. There are 4 beaches to choose from.

Drove through on our way down to Salo and it was a great drive. So pretty going through the mountains and taking in a different view. Sadly no time to stop but plenty of places for a picnic and to swim and less busy than Garda

Beautiful small lake with wonderful piles .Prehistoric pile dwelling are a peculiar phenomenon to the Alpine areas between the 5tn and the 1th millennium b.C.
They have been found in an excellent state of preservation in many lakes and wetlands throughout the foothills of the Alps.

Trying to do everything by bus from Riva. This lake in a secluded valley is easily done in an afternoon. Took midday bus literally through the mountain entering into the steep valley. Soon the valley opens up to reveal this little jewel. We choose to go the quiet far end of the lake. Plenty of restaurants and beach space and a refreshing breese on a hot day. We walked halfway back down the lake and caught the bus there. A number of accessible bathing spots from the cycle/walking path which runs all way down

This lake is very different from the hustle and bustle of nearby Lake Garda. The villages at either end of the lake, Molina and Pieve are both quite small with a handful of hotels, shops and eateries between them. This is the lake for you if you enjoy strolls (or a bike ride) around a beautiful lake, lake bathing from small rock or gravel beaches with crystal clear water, walking up Alpine valleys or into the hills to visit unspoilt and often very historic villages where English visitors are very welcome but quite rare. There is some interesting history, a Garibaldi museum and a warren of WW1 trenches and defences built into the hill under the big Garibaldi memorial (really worth a visit, don't just do the little museum). Most foreign visitors are currently German, with a few other continental countries represented. Quite a few seem to stay in a couple of fairly large but quiet and tidy camping sites.
The walking is not as well signed as, say, in Austria, but it is pretty clear. There are lots of drinking fountains in villages and around the main walks but you won't find many 'mountain huts' for refreshments along the way.
The locals all seemed very friendly, prices in bars and shops were very reasonable and we really enjoyed our stay in the area.

We enjoyed a great week at the lake. A lot of activities are easy accessible such as mountain biking, hiking, climbing. And we went to Verona as well for one day, which is about 1,5 hr drive. Special recommendation for the route de ponale, a magnificent mtb path from the lake all the way down to Lago di Garda (Riva di Garda). The easy way is to take the bike shuttle back.

Visited for a week in September. We had amazing weather and it is such an amazingly peaceful and relaxing place. It’s almost like stepping back to another era before tourism hit. Well worth making a trip to all the different villages around the lake and outlying areas. See the world war 1 trenches, walk the ponale road down to Garda and make the climb up to the view point by the maddonina at Molina. There are boats and pedaloes to hire and the walk around the lake is good to do, or just sit relax and watch the world go by.

We are at lake garda but when we were looking for a destiny also looked at Ledro. Didn't find anything in the area around Ledro.
Whe went there for just a day and every part where you can enjoy the lake there are no dogs alowed. Whe have a dog so glad that we haven't gone there.
Lake looks nice and beautifull etc, but no destination for us.

Only 20 minutes from Lake Garda, but a fraction of the price. Beautiful views in all directions, handy shops and restaurants are in the villages at both ends of the lake. Various water and land activities are available including cycles and pedalos etc. A good base for the area.

The lake is very beautiful and quiet, perfect place to relax and chill. The view is great whether it's sunny or not with the turquese color of the water mixed with the green of the trees and the mountains. It's reachable from Riva del Garda and it's very close if you are here for a trip.

can you recommend a hotel or guest house in one of the villages on this lake, maybe somewhere with a few shops/restaurants etc and somewhere to bathe. I wont have a car.

Ciao, rossy79.
