So much to enjoy here. Visited in mid March so the attraction was quiet. No scheduled trains were running but a small service loco shunted in and produced that special sound, sight and aroma everyone associates with the age of steam. The platforms have lots of original features upon which the Liverpool Hornby firm based their tinplate models - a... More

Lovely attraction, especially for the smallest one. You can pop out at any station and go for a walk for example around Corfe Castle and then back by train to Swanage. Prices are reasonable adult £11 both side, kids under 5 free. If u want seat at the front just behind locomotive donation of £1 must be paid for the... More

The Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway connects with boats on Lake Windermere and you can save a bit of money by buying a combined ticket. It's only short - less than four miles - and on our day (a half term day) they were using a diesel multiple unit, despite the fact that the line was quite busy. This was disappointing... More

On a recent visit to Cumbria I went on this railway. It was a most pleasant ride. The staff were very pleasant and friendly.I would recommend this for a visit.

Overall bit disappointing, not very festive looking on arrival and was expecting more build up on platform whilst waiting. The train journey chugged very slowly and kept stopping for long periods. The sing along in the carriage was a highlight, but Santa visit underwhelming for my 4 yr old who came away upset as Santa didn't ask him what he... More

This train ride was included in our ticket which covered most of the rides on Lake Windermere. The engine and carriages were of excellent standard. There were lots of enthausists looking at the engine (including me) when we stopped at the station at Haverthwaite. The scenery between Lakeside and Haverthwaite is beautiful and relaxing.

Enjoyed a nice scenic ride on the diesel train up to Lakeside station and back. A lovely little cafe and shop too. Reasonably priced.

We had not been on this line before and we arrived just as the train was about to pull out but managed to get aboard. The line rises straight away form Haverthwaite so the locomotive gives a good show of steam and smoke as it pulls up the gradient. Not a lot to see from the train as trees and... More

Nice place, steam engines running most weekends. Great little line. Nestled away to the south of lake Windermere. Have called in a few times whilst on my travels. Breakfast here is amazing, I'm used to a full English every morning and even I struggled to finish it 😊.
