Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There is a hiking trail to go all around the lagoon. Please note that the lagoon is contaminated with sewage (there are signs in several places) and is not suitable for swimming. Several parts of the trail also smell of sewage.

Walking around Narrabeen Lagoon State Park is truly lovely bush walk which takes around 2-3hrs and is approximately 9km.

There are plenty of activities to do from swimming, canoeing, cycling, boating or fishing. There are a few access points including Jamieson and Berry Reserve with numerous picnic spots, playgrounds, sandy beaches and boating ramps.

I run around the lake and it is beautiful especially in the morning. There are spots all around for picnics, fishing, running , riding etc. A great spot to spend some time only a short distance from the city.

We are biased, as we are locals, but the walk is fantastic. Easy 1.5 hour walk around the lagoon, great birdlife, and lots of spots for photos. Great for kids and adults.

If you opt for the full circuit, it’s just over 8km and takes around 2 hours. The track has no steps, and alternates between paved and dirt track. You pass through multiple reserves, including those with toilet facilities, water refilling stations, exercise areas, and even a bike repair stand. The track is well signed, with regular distance markers. There’s an abundance of Australian bird life.

Tip, if you’re not up for the whole circuit I’d recommend the section from Middle Creek Reserve to Jameson Park, which is the most peaceful (as you’re away from Wakehurst Parkway). There’s also lots of interesting Anzac plaques on this section.

Great area to visit. Plenty of room to sit on the beach. Safe calm waters to paddle in. People fishing (not sure if they caught anything). Short walk to Narrabeen beach.

This is a pleasant two hour, fairly level walk around the Narrabeen lagoon/lake on Sydney's Northern Beaches. We had a clear winter day when we went and locals say the best time to go is mid week morning or afternoon to avoid week-end crowds.

The 8.5 km walk is scenic, circular, dog friendly and follows the waters edge most of the way. It has a number of convenient parking areas adjacent to it and we left our car in the Bilarong Reserve parking area just off the Wakehurst Parkway at North Narrabeen. The four of us then walked in an anticlockwise direction around the lake stopping for a nice lunch in a Thai restaurant in Narrabeen before crossing Narrabeen Bridge back to our start.

Be aware it is a shared pathway and in the main nearly all of the bike riders we encountered were friendly and courteous. Only two didn't know how to use the bell on their bikes when silently approaching walkers from behind. So be aware!

There is a cafe close to the path in the War Veterans Village for those who need a caffeine fix half way round but on a hot day certainly carry some water.

Narrabeen lake is a great spot for a scenic walk especially since the new path around the lake has been completed.
Lots of walkers and bikers enjoying the lake and all it has to offer on this relatively flat path.
