Don't miss this historical opportunity ... it's like walking through the pages of a textbook. Arrive early, leave as late as you can ... but don't miss the ferry out!

To see the Lions of Delos, take a left sightseeing path which goes towards the Sanctuary of Apollo, and past it there is the Terrace of the Lions, with 4 sculptures of large lions standing in the sun. Path goes further towards the Sacred lake, the Lake house and then to the right and up to the museum. Interesting that... More

I thought that this would be my stand-out area of Delos, although now having been, the House of Masks and its beautiful mosaics is tough competition for the magnificent lions. I do love these lions and marvel at their sculpting in the ancient time they were made. The real ones are only a short walk away in the museum on... More

It looks amazing and awe inspiring until you realize it's all replicas now. So therefore underwhelming. But worth a walk by if you are there.

Walking the Avenue of the Lions you realize that man's appreciation of nature and beauty haven't changed much within some 3 millenia.

From the looks of them I think lionesses should be a better word. And considering that Artemis didn't acceptet males in her suite it can be an explanation for them. After so many milenia guarding the bith place of the two gods.

Even though these are duplicates of the originals, they still are impressive. Hard to imagine the skill it took to build.

We walked down the Avenue and imagined what life would have been like to be a part of this beautiful city. Delos is packed with history and a must see if visiting Greece. John and Gail Laney

Regal and still standing guard, the remaining lions of Delos watch over the birthplace of Apollo and Athena. The lake is now dry and the lions themselves have scattered across the globe (including one that has become the symbol for the city of Venice, Italy). Those on display in the museum are authentic, these out in the elements not so... More
