An early start from Moorabbin Airport for the first leg of the trip to Mungo NP in a Piper Cherokee. Melbourne and surrounds were under a blanket of fog but it was a spectacular sight to see the tall buildings above the fog line.
Mungo NP was spectacular. The guide was excellent and the scenery was ancient with evidence of wildlife via animal paw prints left in the sands.
Flying to Broken Hill we did a slight detour to see the Menindee Lakes system that were filling with water from the heavy rains in Qld.
Broken Hill - again a great guide, comfortable 4WD vehicle that enabled the passengers to have a great view of the surrounds. There were so many places to see around BH and the town of Silverton. Late afternoon and sunset at the sculpture park at White Rocks provided fantastic light for photos.
The accommodation in Broken Hill was very comfortable with a good selection of dining options.
Kirkhope Aviation tours are well priced and passengers don’t need to open their wallets for anything apart from souvenirs.
This was my second trip and both have been fantastic.

Sue! Thanks for joining us last week and for taking the time to review us! Melbourne is spectacular on a cold morning, and no better way to see it than in our Piper Navajo! The other destinations really are outstanding as well! We'll be sure to pass your comments on to our providers at each destination. Looking forward to seeing you on another trip sometime soon! Nick

Wow!! This holiday was amazing and filled with highlights along the way. Jake Barden, our pilot and Kirkhope representative was always calm, pleasant and able to adapt quickly when situations changed such as weather conditions and the effect on airstrips on our tour. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole trip ran very smoothly. All we had to do was sit back, relax and enjoy the experiences of this holiday. Nearly every destination had unforgettable highlights that far exceeded our expectations. Adel's Grove was an oasis of natural beauty and wonder, Big Red near Birdsville put on a magnificent show of colours as the sun set. The helicopter flight from Thursday Island to the Tip of Australia is something that we will never forget. Lizard Island provided the most spectacular snorkelling where we swan with turtles near the Giant Clam Gardens... I could go on, but you should experience these destinations yourself. I highly recommend Kirkhope Aviation as they were thorough and professional from the booking process right up until the end, when landing back in Moorabbin. My husband and I will definitely be booking future trips with this operation.

My partner and I,five other people and Tony the pilot spent a terrific weekend in Strahan. We saw a wonderful play "The Ship That Never Was", the Gordon River, Macquarie Harbour and travelled on the Mount Lyell Railway. It was a great break away from Melbourne and life generally. Tony the pilot was great company as was everyone else on the trip. I would recommend this tour to anyone wanting a treat for themselves or to give someone as a present.

From the moment we engaged Kirkhope for our annual golfing trip down to Barnbougle, nothing was too much trouble. This was our first time travelling with them and I can safely say, they will be our charter of choice for all of our future trips. Jake, our pilot was exceptional and extremely professional in every way. The condition of the plane was unrivalled, when comparing to what we have travelled in using previous companies. From checking in, to saying goodbye, everything at Kirkhope was simply first class. We certainly look forward to flying with them again in 2021 and cannot recommend them highly enough for anybody looking for a private charter.
A big thankyou to Jake for making our weekend a memorable one.

A fantastic 2 day adventure with Australian Air Safaris. Our pilot and guide Nick was amazing - a surprise call the night before departure showed a service level that continued throughout the tour. Nothing was too much trouble for Nick and he handled the re-organising of arrangements due to rain hindering touring to give us as much of our itinerary as was possible. The Painted Hills was a real highlight as well as being in William Creek where, due to the rain and road closures, the only pub in town (it is the town!) was at full capacity ! Met so many interesting characters.
No better way to travel and see and experience so much in such a short amount of time. Highly recommend Australian Air Safaris and looking forward to travelling with them again one day soon.

I was gifted a trip to King Island, by a friend for a trip to King Island for the 26.02.21
It is a place, I have wanted to visit for a number of years.
The destination is superb, the tour was so well planned from start to finish.
Arrived at Moorabbin Airport for a briefing of the flight and the tours.
Our pilot was excellent along with the support staff.
Before we knew it, we knew it, we had arrived on King Island.
We were then transported to our accommodation, by the tour group who would show the group over the Island for the next two and a half days.
The accommodation was spotlessly clean and adequate.
The tour itself included all our food.
This included breakfast each day, morning tea at one of our destinations, then lunch, followed by afternoon tea. The on-road catering was amazing.
Then at night we were all taken to “Wild Harvest Restaurant”
Having worked in the Food & Beverage industry all my life, in a number of parts of the world, I was astonished at the quality of the two dinners, that we had in that establishment.
It goes down, as one of my great culinary experiences.
From the flight and all the staff who looked after us on the ground, thank you so much.
This is one total experience, that I will never forget, it surpassed all my expectation’s
John

John! So glad you could join us for a tour of King Island. It’s a really unique destination and one of our favourites. We really appreciate the in depth review you’ve given us (and our partner destinations). Wild Harvest is certainly one of the best culinary locations we visit - Ian and Lucinda provide an amazing experience. Between the food, the ambience of their building and pairing with excellent wines - it’s hard to beat. I really hope we get the chance to show you a few of our other destinations on another tour in the future. Nick

Our 13 day trip from the Gold Coast with AAS through the length and breadth of Qld provided the opportunity to see the grandure of the varying landscapes close up by from an aerial perspective. The Cessna Grand Caravan EX was extremely comfortable and the pilot's professionalism and engagement with passengers was first class. The itinerary was varied with outback towns and reef islands and the recent rains but perfect weather created a visual landscape that can only be fully appreciated from a small plane with the flexibility to fly low and to deviate to places of interest. A great way to experience remote and varied places with a small group tour.

A wonderful weekend away in Strahan and the magnificent world heritage of western Tasmania. Great destination, itinerary and organisation, great accommodation and meals, great pilot (Tony) and a great touring group. I have visited Strahan many times and would highly recommend this tour as a relaxing and very informative way of experiencing in a short time this beautiful part of Australia and its fascinating history. Thank you, Kirkhope Aviation!

Amazing experience. The pilot Nick was aware of my apprehension of flying in a small plane and appointed me" co pilot" from Moorabbin to Mildura. He was great pilot with good people skills too.
Good experience at Willliam Creek, where it was 36 degrees on arrival.Pub was cool with plenty of cold beer, food good, with even an option of a cooked breakfast. Accommodation was cool , clean and comfortable. All staff were friendly and helpful. Flight over Painted Hills spectacular , as was the opportunity to land and see them on foot, with information from an experienced local guide and pilot. Day two- flight over Lake Eyre was spectacular, visit to Muloorina Station was interesting and informative and included morning tea.More amazing scenery over Flinders Ranges and then Rawnsley Park for a delicious lunch. At Broken Hill for refueling, we had the time to visit he RFDS Centre and museum and be taken on a guided tour. Cloud and rain en route from Broken Hill and a new experience to see the lights of Melbourne from a small plane. We landed at Moorabbin at 6.30pm and I had already begun plans for another trip with Air Safaris Australia.

My wife and I (we are elderly) joined this tour in September. Especially appealing to us the tour was entirely within the state of Queensland (no border crossing problems). We were in an 8 seat Cessna Grand Caravan and visited Birdsville, Lawn Hill National Park, Karumba, Thursday Island, Lizard Island, Cooktown, Longreach, Carnarvan Gorge. Our pilot, Kirk, was amazing and the high winged Cessna enabled excellent views of the outback and the Barrier Reef.
This tour had previously been cancelled (due to Covid) but we were refunded immediately.
We have previously flown with Kirkhope (ex Moorabbin) and were very impressed.
