First of all, the location must be top 3 in the whole of Piemonte. Just beneath the walls of a 1000 year old fortress overlooking the wineyards between Falletto and Serralungo.
Very friendly and easygoing local staff. Down to earth people who really make you feel welcomed and relaxed. No fancy stuff - just great food and wine! And they will of course make sure that you pick the right wine for you and the food you’re gonna eat by offering you a wine tasting before ordering the wine.

In the heart of the Barolo wine-producing region, the Cantina Comunale dei Produttori di Castiglione Falletto (Municipal [Wine] Cellar of Producers of Castiglione Falletto) offers excellent wine tastings in a cozy and typical Italian canteen, with a friendly, receptive and informal service. The wine tastings available are listed on a blackboard at the entrance of this canteen and are generally combined in trios that can include Dolcetto d'Alba, Barbera d'Alba, Nebiolli and.... the noble Barolo, considered one of the best red wines in the world!
We chose tasting a trio of Barolos from different producers and harvests together with an excellent homemade pasta with truffles! Everything was excellent. We will definitely return on a next visit to the Strada Romantica delle Langhe!
Also, it is worth strolling through the streets of Castiglione Falletto.
If you have time, be sure to spend a few days in Alba (the city I fell in love with, which I discovered to be my soulmate city!), a good base point for getting to know the Langha region. Discover more vineyards along the beautiful Strada Romantica delle Langhe.

We stopped here for lunch based on a recommendation and it was well worth it. We very much enjoyed the food, the outside setting and beautiful views. It was a glorious day which only added to the ambiance. Highly recommended!

Everything about our experience at the Cantina was fabulous - from the stunning views, the ambiance on the patio and in the cellar, to the quality of the food, the depth of wine selection and the knowledgeable and friendly service. We came here three times during our visit, the first time to enjoy a terrific meal (book in advance, it is very busy and has limited seating!) and the second and third times to taste and buy wines. Firstly, the food is outstanding and the staff very friendly. Highly recommend. The wine tasting was amazing. We wanted to try wines from Vietti, and were treated to seven tremendous wines from Vietti along with a detailed history and information on the producer and all of their wines. There was no rush, we spent several hours tasting and speaking to one of the owners (who spoke fantastic English and had a tremendous depth of knowledge and a great sense of humour). If you like Vietti, this is the place to go and taste and buy - they are the majority seller and as such have the best stock. The next day we came back to buy some wines, and were told we must try some other wines first. Three hours later, after trying nine other wines (the pours are exceptionally generous), we were able to purchase a variety of wines with confidence. The atmosphere and service were second to none. We were even invited to come into the kitchen to meet the family and see how they make the fresh pasta each day. What a treat. We can't recommend the Cantina enough, and will definitely make it a regular stop on our next trips to the area.

Having been an oenophile for years and been active in the wine business in a couple of countries (USA, South Africa), I had become a sceptic of the typical tasting experience in its inability to portray the true character of wines. Our wonderful hotel, the Castello Di Sinio, recommended we try this Cantina. They are spectacularly situated on a hilltop overlooking Barolo vineyards. The “Experience Nebbiolo” (the principal Piemonte red wine grape) offered us a flight of Nebiolo, Barbaresco, and three Barolos from different wine makers and vintages. And, they poured generous half-glasses (large red wine glasses), with the intent that we spend a couple of hours experiencing not just the differences between the wines, but the changes each wine underwent as it softened with exposure to the air. This was truly a great wine experience for me, despite the many vendor-arranged tastings I had been through privately and commercially. Add to that a wonderful lunch on the terrace outside the Cantina overlooking those spectacular hills. A must-do if you like wine and are in that wonderful part of the world.

I can't recommend this cantina enough. The owners are extremely knowledgable about local wines (including other areas in Piedmont, not just in Castiglione Falletto), have delicious food, a great view of the vineyards, and have a great selection of wines from the area. We ended up returning to Castiglione Falletto to stay at Le Torri because we had such an amazing time at the cantina the previous September. While staying in CF we came to the cantina every afternoon for a glass (or three) of wine and some antipasti. The view from the terrace is breathtaking, and even if forced indoors by the rain, the cantina is very cosy and welcoming. Ezo is the best! (Some might call him Il Bricco)

We went to the local enotecas in Barolo, La Morra and Castiglione Falletto. The one in CF is by far the best. The gentleman running the cellar is very knowledgable, provides generous pours and provides personal attention and advice based upon your prefernces. Very relaxing atmosphere, great location; you can sit and taste wines inside as well as outside (weather permitting), with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. There is a great variety of wines available for tasting and purchase; you can visit here multiple times (we stopped by on three separate occasions) and each visit will be a unique and satisfying experience.

Where to start....
I recently spent two weeks travelling around Northern Italy enjoying a lot of fantastic food and wine in Milan, Turin and the surrounding areas, but can honestly say that I never had a better experience than I did at the Cantina.
The high points were our host Ezio (probably spelled wrong-sincere apologies), the great local wines (and invaluable information that came with them), the unbelievably good food, and of course the beautiful setting overlooking the hills of the Cuneo wine country.
We were staying at Le Torri (also great) for three nights and called in for a wine tasting on the second afternoon. Ezio exceeded our expectations by giving us what he correctly termed a "proper" tasting. You pay for three wines and you get three "proper" glasses of wine - not three thimble fulls. Also threw in a couple of extra tastes. His knowledge of the local wines seems to be inexhaustible.
You are truly spoiled for choice in Castiglione Falletto when it comes to top class restaurants and we were already booked in at Le Torri for that night but were still deciding on somewhere for the following night. As one of our travelling companions had missed out on our wine tasting, we decided to book in another one the following night, followed by dinner. Had no huge expectations from dinner at a wine venue, but were pleasantly overwhelmed with how good it was. Some of the best food we had anywhere - and we had some fantastic food elsewhere.
The patio is huge with a magnificent view if the weather's good, but they do have a small indoor area which has a great cosy atmosphere amongst the wine bottles. Not a lot of tables down there though, so best to book ahead.
The Cantina Communale should be listed in the restaurant section of Trip Adviser too BTW
For those like myself who love Italy but have a less than perfect grasp of the language, it also helps that Ezio is a local Italian that speaks fluent English (and other languages too I believe)
If you're in the area, you'd be crazy not to drop in

We came here for the wine tasting experience and very much enjoyed it. The presentation was very detailed, we learned about the area and what makes the Barolo wine a Barolo. The winemaker was very well informed and friendly. You taste different meats and some cheese and see which wines they go well with. Only issue is if you're a lightweight, eat breakfast first! The wines are quite strong for someone who doesn't drink often so I would recommend having lunch in the village after, or simply not finishing all 3 glasses....
