It was a tribute to the late king, Rama 1X, on the occasion of his 50th anniversary of his becoming king. The image's name translates as 'great prophet who brings enlightenment'. - QPixelsSouthampton, United Kingdom393 contributionsRather impressiveIt is one of the largest Buddha images in the world, 130 x 70m, and it is carved on a tall mountain and inlaid with gold leaf. The viewpoint we arrived at was set at the beautifully landscaped gardens, and there were some open pavilions and shrines with Buddha statues. It does not take a very long time to visit unless you plan to have a picnic or a longer restVisited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 4 February 2024

What a sight to see! A mountain that has a golden Buddha towering over you. It’s a free experience, but it’s a decent trip from Pattaya. There are some food & beverage vendors located just outside the sacred area & toilets are available for a fee.

Whether you are a Bhuddist or Just Tourist - this is amazing place to visit. It is truly awe inspiring. If you are in the East Coast, i would highly recommend you visit the Buddha Mountain and just a moment for quiet reflection on life.

Stunning visit to Khao Chin Chan. Thirty minute journey outside off Pattaya, but well worth the journey. It was lovely just strolling around for about an hour. There was also places to have food which I also enjoyed.

This mountain features the outline of a Buddha image engraved into the rock face using lasers. The face of the mountain has a sort of triangular shape and the image fills pretty much the entire face, measuring 30 metres in height and 70 metres in width. An awesome sight of the Buddha

How can I go to the Khao Chin Chan from the hotel in pattaya which is near to central festival?
Which way is better to go there and how much did it cost?
Written 12 December 2018
This is a bit tricky.
There is no established public transport, i.e. a bus route, subway, etc.
Best bet, I would say, would be to charter a songthaew baht bus. Negotiate the price with the driver. If you prefer a taxi, most hotels in Pattaya will be able to book one for you. Agree on the price before leaving.
You might make a day of it and visit nearby Wat Yangsangwarrarum, which has lovely grounds, and some nice displays teaching some of the dhamma, the principles of Buddhism.
Silverlake winery is close to Buddha Mountain as well. There is a pleasant restaurant there for lunch.
I have found the "hire a driver for the day" option works well. Especially nice to take a closed taxi if the weather is warm. Done it in Laos and Cambodia several times for 1,000 baht/day.
I know one outfit from Pattaya offers eight hour car and driver for 3,500 baht, about one hundred ten dollars US. A bit more here, but better car, probably, and definitely more comfortable roads.
Be careful! I came for a three month visit five years ago, and am still here. :)

Hello Everyone,
How do I get there using public transportation?
And if there is no public transportation, can you guys give me a tips to go there in the easiest way.
Thank you.
Written 20 November 2015
As far as I know, there is no scheduled public transport out there. I'd either take a metered taxi there and ask him to wait, or negotiate with a song taeow driver to take you out there. Just make sure you are clear that the price you agree on includes him waiting and the trip back.
