If you come here thinking you're in for a full-on zoo experience, you'll be disappointed: the wildlife park is small (easily covered within an hour or two at most) and doesn't have a huge number or variety of exhibits. However, it makes for a nice couple of hours wandering and spotting the animals, with the walk-in area - featuring kangaroos, wallabies and all manner of birds - being the highlight.
Tickets are perhaps a bit overpriced, but we were happy to contribute to the upkeep of a place that clearly doesn't get a lot of money thrown at it otherwise. Note that access from the carpark is from a pram- and wheelchair-friendly but quite laborious uphill climb.

My husband and I spent a lovely few hours at the Park, strolling along the wooden boardwalk past natural- looking enclosures. We managed to sight an animal in all of them, contrary to our experiences at zoos. The place was very clean, the friendly staff helpful, and the 1pm Show we caught (Birdlife) was great. Next time we’ll come a bit earlier to see the 11 am Show (Reptiles).
We enjoyed a tasty lunch in the cafe among the trees.
The entry fee was very reasonable compared to other sanctuaries in the area.

Beautiful location in Burleigh with ample parking. Be mindful when visiting it is not a large scale park and it is not a theme park type establishment.
It has natural, spacious and well maintained grounds, animals appear well cared for and staff are friendly and informative.
A couple of exhibits closed due to renovations however also lower entry fee.
We enjoyed our time here and appreciated the cruisey pace of the day.

We came at 9 am on Tuesday and stayed 3+ hrs with 3 children 2-5 yrs. and going very slowly, repeating the circuit between each talk. We saw the nocturnal show at 10,the wild bird show at 11 and the croc talk at 12. This is a very small park. Best suited for young children . The animals seem well cared for, staff are friendly and look like they care about their work. The grounds are in a very natural environment. There were no crowds generally so easily navigated around. The shows are simple and ok. The most popular was the crocodile talk and by then a school group had come in .
There are many picnic tables for a BYO picnic.
Online it says you must buy tickets before you arrive. Nowhere does it state that tickets can be bought at the park and you can! This would have saved a lot of time and frustration on the eventbrite website they use. Also our entertainment book voucher couldn’t be processed online.
Personally I wouldn’t go again but do appreciate the effort and importance of keeping these wildlife places open for children to experience .

The wildlife reserve offers a beautiful tranquil settling with lots of things for primary school age children to explore. The explainer staff are passionate about their wildlife park and its history, and do their utmost to instil a love for all animals and impart a message of conservation.
As a family, we went around the circular trail three times, each time around we noticed animals that we had missed previoulsy.
The Presentations are well conducted by explainers who are prepared to answer all the children’s questions.
It is obvious that some aspects of the park are being improved. I’ll look forward to returning in a couple of years to see how the improvements work out.
The Cafe provides a light lunch and good coffee.

Excellent spot in Burleigh, nice to see animals in their own enclosures that mimic their natural habitat. The mangrove walk was excellent with a lot of information about the local aboriginal tribe. The paths were wheelchair accessible which was good. Favourite part was the wallaby walk and seeing this little wallaby come up and interact with my friends and I. I would highly recommend this any day of the week.

Disappointing experience. Staff were lovely and the park itself was well laid out and attractive. But we saw very few animals. Many of the exhibits were closed despite being major school holiday time. Probably won’t go again.

A beautiful park we thoroughly enjoyed our time. The landscape and nature is breathtaking and simply taking a walk around is a lovely experience. We saw some rare Australian wildlife, my favourite of which was the tree kangaroo as well as other birds and reptiles. You need at least 2 hours to walk around and enjoy all the different areas. The crocodile feeding was a highlight, highly recommend! Although they said they only do them during the summer time. You won't see kangaroos however there are koalas. The price is very reasonable and we came out feeling satisfied and had a beautiful day. It is about $27 for adults. Highly recommend!

the park closes at 4pm not 5pm so plan accordingly. It was very quiet when we were there and we almost had the park entirely to ourselves which was lovely. There were animals out all over the place and we were able to see the koalas up close without any crowds. Best viewing I have ever seen of the platypus!
Highly recommend this for families, it was perfect for us and just enough time to keep everyone entertained.

Hi,
Does anyone know how much it costs to enter the park??
Also is there lots of walking?
Thanks 😀
Written 6 October 2018
I can't remember the price but it wasn't unreasonable. The park is fairly compact so shouldn't provide difficulties for anyone unless particularly disabled. (Not much more than half a mile's walking in total)

Do you get to hold or pay any of the animals ?
Written 30 September 2018
You can walk through the emu and kangaroo enclosure - we didn’t touch any of the animals but I don’t know if you could have the option to.

Hi, how much time would be needed to full explore this wildlife park?
Thank you
Written 21 May 2018
Hi, it's not a very big place so 2-3 hours would be plenty of time to spend there I think.

Does anyone know the up to date pricing, I can't find the information anywhere online?

Fleays is a part of National Parks and Wildlife Qld. The admission is really good value at around $25 for adults, and offers of reduced prices for groups and families.

Written 15 May 2016
There are Koalas and Kangaroos at David Fleay's. They have more than one type of kangaroo and wallaby.

Hi, I understand that there's a platypus in the park. What are the chances of spotting it? We are thinking of visiting the park for the platypus.
Written 14 February 2016
Hi the platypus is in a special nocturnal area so he is awake and swimming around in a setting that is appropriate the day we were there we saw them feed him, a truly incredible little animal well worth the time to go see .
Written 16 February 2016
Hi I should have included this is my review but they are really fantastic if you have someone in a wheelchair and you call in advance. There is another entrance they allowed us to use which is much easier for people in wheelchairs to negotiate. The front entrance is very steep which makes it hard if you have to push so someone. Once you are in the park everything is mostly flat.

Great tip, thanks. We pushed a wheelchair and a pram up the hill!
Getting to the little theatre is very difficult in a wheelchair, pretty much impossible. Sadly, that rules out the shows for any disabled visitors.
